Catherine Hughes·В ожидании первенца

So I can't sleep for more than an hour or two at a time here in the hospital. First I spent a lovely couple of hours in Labor and Delivery where the beds are a living nightmare. I told my mother that I'm glad I'll be in too much pain to worry about the bed next time I'll be in there. It was not fun at all. They moved me to a regular room after monitoring Joey on the heart monitor for quite awhile. The level of discomfort was unbearable. Since I've been moved to a regular room I've been much better. The food hasn't been bad, the room is nice and comfortable for everyone and only the Internet has given me a headache. So the issues have been that I have a bladder infection. I was very dehydrated. And my blood pressure was high. Since I've been admitted my bladder infection was confirmed and treated with antibiotics. I've been on fluids and that's been fun...I never had an IV before...I hate it!! And my blood pressure (in spite of being stressed and crazy anxious) has been low to normal. So things are looking up. I am having trouble moving. My legs are still severely swollen and my Joey is hanging so low that it's painful to stand too quickly. My doctor talked about bed rest but honestly I'm thinking being in bed has only made it harder to get up and down to go pee and do anything for myself. Am I the only one who has to depend on others who can't stand it? I feel helpless! I really hate relying on other people to help me out of bed or to fix my food. I'm very independent and this pregnancy has proven that I'm pretty much screwed if I don't have family to lean on. Not to mention a very supportive (sleepy) husband. Lol can't wait for breakfast...I'm hungry at 5 am! 😋

@catehughes, Lol yes we tend to worry a bit but in the end our natural instincts kick in and we began to raise and care for our babies in ways we never knew we could. That's the beauty of being a mom. There's still so much to understand about our maternal instincts but it's simply a beautiful thing to be able to carry a baby and then give birth and from there began being everything that child needs you to be even if you dont know what you're doing.

@mommy3, my mom said that! She says that you're never really prepared for a baby. I don't know if that's totally true but I'm not shocked if it is. Lol everyone freaks out a little when they're pregnant.

@mommy3, I would have had a lot more anxiety. I'm a mess as it is with my current pregnancy issues. I just can't wait to meet my little boy. Do you feel more prepared this time after having three babies?

@catehughes, Lol well I'm lucky to have had them my second time around. It still was scary but I handled it on my own like a champ :)

@mommy3, that's a lot of girls! I wanted a girl but I'm glad to have a boy first for that "big brother" feeling. Are you worried you're going to get twins again?

@catehughes, Well we moms certainly go through a big deal just carrying our little ones so I personally feel that no matter how we deliver our babies into this world, nothing else will matter once they're here and in our arms

@mommy3, wow that's awful. My only complaint is the HORRIBLE beds in L&D!! They were a nightmare and I had to lay in one each time they did a heart monitoring thing...took two hours to take a 20 minute test. And I had to take it twice! Once when I got there and once the day I left. Totally horrid. I'm hoping I won't have to be in L&D for too long because the beds are hard as a rock and the whole thing is slanted down so I was slipping down the bed all the time. It's more like a surgical room than a hospital room. No one would want to spend too much time in there I could imagine. My actual room was large and comfortable...only issue was a crappy little TV, but with my iPad I didn't have room to complain. All in all it was a good dry run for when I'm actually ready to deliver! :)

@catehughes, Lol at least you get to be home and comfortable. The hospital I delivered my twins at was pure heaven so to speak being that I couldn't find one thing that I didn't like from the time I got there to the time that I left. They let me call to check on my babies any time of the day but that still wasn't enough because I didn't hold my babies for the first time until they were 3 weeks old. It was tough also because I had lost a younger sibling only 8 days after they were born. But in the end I still felt truly blessed because with my loss I still had double the love in return

@mommy3, well I was in the hospital on 24/hour urine to see if I had preeclampsia. I didn't! They released me yesterday after 3! It was nice to have had the tests and to feel more confident. But it's great I don't have any issues. I was and still am having all the symptoms of preeclampsia but they said I'm clear! But I am now on mandatory bed rest. Yay...lol

@catehughes, I had preeclamsia and they wanted me to be on hospital bed rest for as long as possible but after a few days they had no choice but to induce me

But at least I got to do it at home. And I stayed in the hospital only 4 days before I was induced to have them and they only did 3 weeks in the nicu due to being born 7 weeks early, but they are healthy beautiful 3 1/2 year olds now and I would do it all over the exact same way

I'm the same way and its so hard to deal with at times because I'm so used to doing everything on my own and for myself and when I have to let other people help its such a pain and headache

My so and I haven't been able to have cats for years. Last year we moved into our own house. So says we can have a cat now.

babybump_user If you are definitely set on getting a cat, I'd look for one that is already declawed

I woke up very dizzy almost fainted, my hubby had to carry me back to bed, everytime I move I throw up, one moment I'd be sweating the next I'd be cold...I prop my head up a little bit with my hand..I haven't had any food so I'm hungry....The only time I'm throwing up sick is when I'm pregnant. I've never ever been this sick....
