I had one when I first went to find out. and then my 1st actually one for the profile and everything at 18weeks

With my son I was 8 weeks, with this one I was 11 weeks (10w4d). For my doctors office it just depends on when there's availability. I would be pretty disappointed if they made me wait until I was 20 weeks though. Maybe you can see someone else? Or make up a story and go to the ER and try to get a scan if you have insurance.

20 weeks?!? I've never heard of that. I got my first around 8 weeks. If possible, I would consider changing doctors, unless the only reason he isn't giving u one is because your insurance doesn't cover it.

I got one done when I was 7 weeks 6 days and they detected the heartbeat. I went to a free clinic that did it and offers classes and pays you for attending them to use in there shop to buy baby items. Not sure if every state offers this but it's definitely a blessing especially while waiting for a medical card.

I got mine around 13 weeks, it was my first prenatal appointment because Medicaid took forever to respond with my coverage approval. Then I went to a private ultrasound clinic for a 3d because I was anxious to find out the gender at 18wks. I'll have my anatomy scan ultrasound next week. I think it depends on your Dr. though, I got lucky with that first ultrasound because he had the machine in clinic.

Had my first at 9 weeks and 4 days. They call it dating sonogram because the purpose is to calculate more accurately your due date according to the fetus size. Also possible to detect a heartbeat with Doppler and see if you're having twins or single one. Next sonogram should be the NT (nuchal translucency), the purpose is to estimate your risk of having a baby with Down Syndrome and some other chromosomal abnormalities. This sonogram usually followed by collecting some of your blood for the same purposes. NT scan is actually crucial to be done between 11 and 14 weeks (due to changes in that fluid collection that they have to measure). The scan you're talking about is the Anatomy scan and sounds to be reasonable to schedule it for 20 weeks. I would definitely recommend you to ask your doctor at least about the NT scan.

That is really weird, I got my first one at 10 weeks. I wasn't sure how far along I was and so they did the ultra sound and my baby was very very tiny but I had my first one at 10 weeks. Some OB's have different feeling about ultra sounds so idk.
