Someone decided to make the comment about how my SO and I are giving our son his dad's last name despite us not being married... Traditionally, babies get their dad's last names. Sure we could've used a hyphenated last name, but neither one of us are fans of hyphenated last names. He and I plan on getting married one day, anyway, and so I will be an official Sinsel, too. We are the SINSEL family, not the Sinsel and Brown family, not the Sinsel-Brown family... Our little Jacob will be a Sinsel, and so will I one day!
Also, I have nothing against hyphenated last names, nor moms who give their babies their own last name. I know a lot of people do this, and my best friend who had her kid in high school gave her daughter her last name. It's all in personal preference! My biggest thing is how someone talked crap about my family. There's no need for that! It's OUR family, and we will do what we feel the need to do. :)

My daughter has her fathers last name. There is no hyphen with my last name in it. He was there my entire pregnancy and still is here now that she is born so why not have his last name. it doesnt matter if youre married or not. As long as hes there for the child the baby should have his last name.

my son is almost 9 and has my last name because his dad wanted nothing to do with us (still that way) but the one im pregnant with now will have my fiance's last name because he is and always will be here, when we get married I will change mine and my sons!

@xoxo512070, that makes sense to me! If I was in this by myself like my best friend was, the baby would, without a doubt, be getting my last name. But my SO is a great partner, and a wonderful father-to-be. It just makes sense to give our son his last name. :)

Its a personal choice or preference no one can judge my first has her donors last name only because it sounds good with her name n personality n she wants to be famous one day so it's the perfect stage name lol (Raven Rush) and my new baby has her dads last name because he was there at birth n is there to take care of her and again based on how it goes with the rest of her name my reasons have little to do with tradition but hey don't let anyone Mk you feel bad about your name choice
