Question about glucose test --
I took my 1 hour last week and fasted for 12 hours just to be sure I passed it. Drank the lime flavored drink in 3 minutes flat and then waited the hour and ate and drank nothing. Doctor said my numbers were 131. He said I was right on the borderline of passing and failing. I have put on maybe 14lbs in 34 weeks and the baby is measuring perfect. He said I do not fit the profile at all for gestational diabetes but he wants me to do the 3 hour test "just in case" smfh what does he care he has no idea how miserable it is. But anyone else who has had a number of 130-135 taken the 3 hour and been fine? Or have you failed as well?
@mizzmeganmae, ooo yea girl that would not be good! I ate pretty much how I wanted too but I gained a LOT more. But since delivering I've lost 26lbs without doing anything. Still 30lbs over my pre pregnancy weight though lol. But yea gestational diabetes is no joke so I hope the three hour one goes well for you!!
@arielle, yeah I've seen mamas here, on other apps or even Facebook boards that have said to eat light and no carbs before their test. And I didn't have to fast and I thought if I did it would guarantee I would be ok and the reading would be right!! Smh that's probably why I didn't pass pass it and I was just borderline passed. I'm supposed to go tomorrow morning for it but my cravings really kicked in and I ate a cheeseburger and a coca cola from Burger King so I should probably go Friday instead so I def fast the 12 hours I need to! If I fail the 3 hour test in screwed because I hate needles and pricking myself all day for blood will make me miserable! Or God forbid have to do insulin shots that's not going to be possible for me!! And I have only gained 15lbs in 34 weeks and I eat anything I've wanted and never really changed my diet at all, or paid attention to the food just the weight I was gaining and now having a special diet OMG i dont know what I would do!!
@mizzmeganmae, that's weird, maybe there was a reason he told you to fast but I've read that a lot of women make the mistake of not eating before the test and not passing it. Like I said I had a little snack and my levels were good. Good luck on the three hour one!!!
@kateferrera, your son was a peanut like my little ones were, they were 5.15 and 5.6 :)
@arielle, the damn doctor told me I needed to fast for both of them, he made sure I did when he told me my results too, but I've heard other people didn't have too, @kateferrera this is my 3rd baby and the first 2 times I was pregnant I only did the 1 the test and got around the same and just skipped the 3 hr one because like this time I knew I wasn't a diabetic and I'm thinking about doing the same thing again. I'll be 35 weeks on Sunday and she will most likely be here in 2-3 weeks so doing this is like a waste. It's ridiculous he's never had to suffer that's why he doesn't mind making me do this. I betcha the drink is warm and nasty and I betcha I'll throw up chugging 2 bottles of that crap tomorrow too on an empty stomach in 5 minutes!
You're not supposed to fast for the one hour test. Not eating anything can mess up your numbers just like eating too much can or eating the wrong thing. I just had Greek yogurt with raspberries and honey mixed in and passed. You could also do peanut butter on whole wheat toast. The three hour one is the one you fast for I believe
Girl... I failed my 1 hour by like 10-15 points.. I opted out of the 3 hour test because I knew I didn't have Gestational Diabetes, I had my son in Dece#mber and I'm pregnant again. Almost EVERYONE fails the 1 hour test, I don't know why they wouldn't just make it mandatory that you get the 3 hour one.. But if you feel you don't need to get it, then opt out of it! But if it bothers YOU then do it.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
AF due 29th, anyone else?
Hi all AF is due 29th Sept for me feels like forever away. Has anyone tested yet or when do you plan on testing x
Science!
My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?
Starting TWW. Anyone else?
I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.
