my son needed blood work done when he was 3 days old so we had to take him out but i keep a blanket covering him up to protect him a little more but you just need to be carefull and not let people put their hands on your baby. i had a few strangers touch him on his face or head before and i was not okay with that.

My parents wouldn't watch my son for me while I went to pick up my pain meds so I took him out with me when he was 3 days old. He didn't get sick, I just got really annoyed when EVERYONE asked if he was a premie because of his size. He's a summer baby so I didn't think the chances of him catching anything was high (this was almost 4 years ago). This time around I don't think I'll risk it since I'm due in winter && everyone will be sick.

@patlac, you can take them for a walk the first week but they say stay away from crowds and a lot of people in the beginning. Some fresh air would be good for baby

@patlac, some say after 6wks but I took my baby out at 3wks nut he was well covered up

For me I prefer not to bring the baby outside too much during the first weeks . Like for instance .. In the winter newborn babies are easily sick ... And that's not good because their lungs are still developing but I'm not sure in the spring /summer tho .., but just not too much .. Like make sure as long there's no exposure to the sun or sum thing but I suggest you have your baby inside for for few weeks unless you have to

I think that's up to you....I would just have baby covered good. I had to take my son out when I ran errands because I didn't have help at the time...and to wic and doctor so I think that's up to when you feel comfortable @patlac
