Did you ladies wait till after the baby shower to start buying baby products? My sister say I should wait because we have such a large family and ppl will get most of the things I need

I'd buy basic stuff, like diapers onesies ect. But wait for the big stuff for after the shower
We waited and ended up not having to buy our son nothing but a few more blankets and stuff we wanted him to have
I didn't wait. I was told the same thing by my family and got yelled st every time I got something. but my point of view is its my first kid and if I want to spoil it with stuff I get then I will lol.
