how do u ladies time contractions (ftm here) dont know if im doing it right

At l&d they told me to time from when one starts to when the next one starts and that's how far apart they are

so whenever i have one stsrt the timer and when it goes away stop the timer and start it again when i get another one?? @tibi2696
