I noticed and was thinking that some new moms and moms to be chose to get a midwife. what's the difference between a midwife and an obgyn? what made you choose a midwife?

i chose a midwife because i thought she was more certified. i ended up having more problems with her so i switched to an obgyn. the real difference is a midwife practices more natural ways and obgyn is more certified in medicine than a midwife. id rarher chose an obgyn as i have health issues rhat need to be watched by a obgyn since they are more certified in medicine

They're more personable. More natural. No non necessary interventions. Drug free. Water birth friendly. Home birth. Become more of a friend then a doctor. I had a certified nurse midwife so she actually went to medical school practices in a hospital then switched to midwifery. I wanted to know the person who would be delivering my baby not some on call doctor. I wanted to be able to call HER at 3 am with an issue not an on call doctor or nurse that didn't know me.

Midwifes are for issue free pregnancies. Non high risk pregnancies. Ect. If you have issues that need monitoring or medication you most likely can't use a midwife. If your planning on wanting pain medication you can't have a midwife.

I had a midwife because i was high risk. They gave me 2 obgyn doctors and 1 midwife. I didn't really get to chose. And she never mentioned anything about natural births to me she got me the epidural.

You should watch "The business of being born," and "Born in america," which both are on YouTube. They're amazing and informative
