you should only get one if you or the baby is in danger. most doctors won't operate without a good reason. it's very risky and tears you your stomach most women never want to show their stomachs again without plastic surgery.

I had one due to fetal macrosomia, aka "big baby" :) I'll be having my second csection June 12th.

I have to have one due to a prior surgery on my uterus.

I got one cause I couldn't catch my breath between contractions, my daughters heart rate was dropping dramatically, & I wouldn't dialate past a 4 so they did am emergency c section

There can be many reasons. It's 2015 though, the surgeries have gotten so much better. My friend just had one, (her babies cord was around his neck), and her incision is only about a half an inch long. 10-15 years ago, they would cut you so much bigger, but they have really gotten the hang of it. It's a legit surgery, don't get me wrong, and of course it has complications - but everything does.

Mine is scheduled because my baby is in breech position still when she should be head down already

My soon was born at 34weeks due to water broke(with high blood pressure) and he was in breech position didnt turn head down

I had mine due to stress of the baby and I wouldn't dilate passed 5 c.m his heart rate was dropping after 2 days in labor to find out his cord was wrapped around his neck
