My son got a D in reading. Now this would not be a big issue if the grade had not been slipping…

have him read out loud to you every night, that's what my sister had to do. it helped her a lot.

but my little sister has really good grades in all the fast classes PE, science she has A's, but in history and English she wasn't doing to good. she got tested and she has A.D.D. she's 12. could that be a possibility?

I don't think so. He just has his mind obsessed with fantasy shows or if you tell him something he dwells on it to the exclusion of all else. It never hurts to have hime checked though.

how old is your son? When I was young I had dislexia and they didnt catch it until I was in about 3rd grade.

have him read allowed and see if he struggles with words or following the lines. One of my biggest issues and I still have it today is my eyes and brain dont want to read at the same spead so I skip lines if I dont work at it. but I a.d.d could be it.

@lilithnight, I did that tonight he reads well but rushes. It will be a project for sure

My younger brother (11) has issues with this as well. Maybe try having him read a paragraph and write a sentence about it to see if he is comprehending what he is reading. Or write a paragraph for larger readings. Writing it out may help him slow down and remember what he is reading instead of speeding through it...

I like that idea. Best not to let him get too far into the book and still not understand it. @wesselinglove
