So dame annoyed!!......on my first scan thay found a fibroid but said that it's nothing to worry about unless it gets bigger.. So i had a second scan and thay could not find it .. The home birth team come out and said i can't have a home birth because i have a fibroid. . So i have the hospital saying one thing and the home team saying the over. I don't know if I'm coming or going . So I'm back to the hospital tomorrow to have a look again ..
You can still insist on a home birth, fibroids or not. It's every woman's right within the UK to be facilitated in giving birth where she feels safest and most comfortable. They can advise you to go into hosp for birth but you still don't have to and if you dig your heels in they will just have to give you an extra midwife for the home birth and ensure an ambulance is on standby when you go to labour. My best friend has had 5 home births now and my daughter has had three, every pregnancy they try to find an excuse to have babes delivered in hosp, but luckily here in the UK Mums actually get the choice no matter what the complications and the professionals know this too! Good luck xx
