Any mommies who already have kids have any with ADHD? My youngest daughter was just diagnosed with it and I have some questions.

@charisma_shay, we had the same issues with my step son. he would act out with anger or just cry, he didn't listen in school and didn't do his work so together his mom and my husband agreed maybe the teachers were right and maybe it would help. he's been on it for 3 weeks now and has improved so much!

My brother takes the medication, once the correct dosage is given it should not make the child a zombie. my little brother eats just like a normal 9 year old boy... my step son is also on the medication, he just started because of grades, he takes 10 MG once a day and he has improved so much in school he is also being entered into the gifted program for excellent grades and being able to work above his age level, he is 7. many people tell me that my 2 year old will need medication but until school age where she actually needs to be focused I don't care what anyone says she's home with me all day everyday and we do just fine.

@mrs.oliva, ok I understand what your saying its not like he has a really bad behavioral prob? My daughter cant be controlled she will listen for like 5 mins then she back at it again so many people have tried to help me with her until I finally decided to suck it up and have her evaluated.

@sking092192, yea her doctor wants to see her back and 10 days with another evaluation from me and her teacher to see how these meds do and she said if she needs to change it she will and she also mentioned therapy. My kids have a really good concerning doctor so I trust she will help out as much as she can.

they started him on 5mg one capsule in the a.m. I gave it to him for 2 days and it didn't do nothing but I cried because I felt so bad and guilty giving it to him because I feel like it's gonna make him different or give him a bad reaction... then I went back to doctors they gave him 10mg and I didn't try it on him. I don't want it to be a downer for him I can handle him the way he is. like I said I'm just really stressed about his learning

my newphew was held back in kindergarten because he kept failing everything and stayed in in scoop suspension constantly for beating up the other kids.. really, if you find a good doctor that will work with your child and get them on the correct medications and dosage it will help, Savanah has problems wetting the bed because her adhd is so bad, they even had a night time spray to help her with that! we love her doctor, he works from his home and he actually did some counseling with both of them while the whole process was going on. my niece loves her therpy sessions with him because they play games and go outside and play with the dogs or she helps in the garden or something fun. it's been a wonderful process for us@charisma_shay

@mrs.oliva, Have you tried the medicine out on him or did you just not give it to him?

my son has ADHD..but he's not that hyper and he does listen but every kid is different doctor has prescribed medicine but honestly I made the decision to not give it to him. the only thing I'm worried about is his schooling he is very inconsistent. but he is also developmentally delayed.
