On Tuesday I told my MIL that my husband and I don't want to have anybody at our homebirth besides our midwife and doula. Well, Gary and I went over there yesterday to show her my ultrasound photos in person and she made a comment about how she was upset that she doesn't get to be at the birth and I just ignored her. Then right before I was going to leave she pulled me aside and told me how upset she was that she doesn't get to be at the birth and how all her co-workers got to see their grandbabies be born. She went on to say she wasn't trying to be manipulative or change my mind but honestly, I don't believe it.

Yikes! Well like I said it's your birthing experience & u have the finally say. I hope she understand & don't be upset forever.

@mommyofaking, My mom, my step-mom and my MIL are all nurses. The pregnancy has been... interesting to say the least. My step-mom is the only one who hasn't given me unwarranted advice.

@firefly, I want it to be a special/intimate moment between my husband and me. I think it's something we should be able to experience privately. And honestly I don't want to be made a spectacle. I wouldn't feel comfortable having a ton of people there.

Stick to your grounds.... I'm so glad I'm in another state away from my mom cause I'm sure she would want to be there for the birth & she too bossy (nurse herself)

my mom had 7 kids and did not want to see me give birth she said its a horrible sight and she dont see how anyone would want to watch that my mil feels the same and so do i. i just dont get why people want to see that

That's crazy my mother told me it should just be my husband and I in the room and no one else. This is a private moment for you and your husband/significant other.

I would understand her being upset if it was your mother but his mother??? Does she not have her own daughters to have that moment with?

Will your Mom be in the delivery room? My mom made it sound like she was gonna be in the delivery room when I give birth, and quite frankly, I would just like it to be me and my fiancé. It's our first, and I want to share that special moment with just him. I don't want to hurt her feelings, and I know this is something she would really like to be a part of. So I feel bad telling her no.

So this morning my fiancé and me went to my folks for Christmas. On our way there we had to stop at his ex fiancé house…

So this morning my fiancé and me went to my folks for Christmas. On our way there we had to stop at his ex fiancé house to drop off an ornament we found of hers when we were setting up our tree. I was upset because I really didn't want to see her especially on our first Christmas being engaged and our daughters first Christmas because she has been mean about me in the past. Now I come to find out that she has been asking him about our daughter and stuff like that. Do I have a right to be upset or no??
