question... so do you have to be effaced to be dilating? or do you have to be dilating to be effaced or you can be either or nor necessarily at the same time? y'all get my question? lol kinda confusing
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂all of you are nuts but I agree with @brie15 you have to be both for the baby to come lol the only way they can really tell if your effaced is if your dilated so they go hand and hand, my lil cervix is a 1.53 and staying you would have thought it would have been at a zero by now and I would be starting to dilate but nope lol
you have to be 100% effaced and 10 cm to push the baby all though some drs let you push if your a little off because it helps the last bit go faster
@babyboolala girl I'm nosey.. lol my Dr always like why did you ask that.. lol he says I'm always trying to anticipate everything but it doesn't work like that when you pregnant lol... @kaymariah okay!! @krb0911 thanks for breaking it down! @tattooedwho 😂😂😂
@sexii_diiva, no to have a baby you have to be both. Effaced is thinning of the cervix if it isn't 100% then there is is no hole for the baby to come out of. You have to be 10 cm dilated before you can start pushing the baby out or the baby will get stuck in the birth canal.
I meant you can start dilating with out effaced or you can dilate first. Both do not have to happen at one.
Like you can be 1cm dilated but fully effaced and go into labor. Then you will start having contractions to make you dilate.
being effaced just means your cervix is thinned out you have to be dilated to have the baby
rotflmbo I haven't had a baby in years lol they didn't use those terms when I was pregnant b4 and I never ask all those questions I just wait until I go into labor girl
@krb0911 ooo okay.. so what's if you're 100% effaced but not dilated.. then you can't have the baby? but if your 5cm dilated && 50% effaced then what happens?
Okay this is hard to explain by typing it but basically effaced is the "thinning" and "shortening" of your cervix and dilation is width of the cervix. Your cervix starts out longish and tube like and as you efface it shortens and thins out. And I'm not exactly sure if they have to happen together but I'd think they would be somewhat related to each other. It was explained very well in the birthing class and I'm sure you could find a diagram or more info on the net somewhere :)
@tattooedwho girl I see it on here too.. so I had to Google what that means lol @meplusmytwo don't come on here judging me you supposed to help me lol @babyboolala oo lawwd.. you should be able to answer cuz you have 6 already! @kaymariah hmm
I just read an article and it said either or can come first. But I they usually come together!
i had two kids and have no clue wtf effaced is lol i never heard it before finding this app, i just had the babies when they wanted to come out i didnt ask many questions and no one told me. i read it all the time line wtf is effaced and how do i know lol
I think it's either or but I also never heard anyone be one without the other I'm not very sure hmmm
Contraction questions
I had a membrane sweep today. Before the sweep I was 3-4 dilated & 75% effaced.
How much dilated/effaced do you have to be for the hospital to keep you there????
Question: Does anyone have tattoos? Do you have tattoos on your hands??
How do you know if you are dilated? Does your water have to break so you can be dilated? I'm 38 weeks and I still don't feel labor stuff lol
If you never dilated or thin do you have to get a csection?
@mrssabby lmao oo OK... @brie15 thanks
