@kaity0117, yeah I agree with that but 37 wks is fine, and as far as inductions after you've had one you won't want another, people do take pregnancy for granted but who are we to judge, judge and be judged is how it goes, at the end of the day people will do what they want it's no point in getting upset, we all have our views and we just have to respect the fact that we're all different😉

I am a first time mom and I am not talking about going into preterm labour. There are many women who never get to full term for known or unknown reasons. I am talking about inducing for any reason other than medical. If you go into labour early and the doctor thinks everything is okay then why stop the natural process? But to force your baby out is what I'm talking about. And I do my research on all my questions before I ask my midwife. Who has been doing nothing but pregnancy and delivery for 18 years... Were as most doctors are more widely spread... I trust a midwife on pregnancy related things rather than a doctor. Just like it makes so pissed off that people think it's okay to drink while pregnant... Like "let me just piss on this gift of being able to create a child by having a drink that I can wait for" I have women in my family who can't conceive! And I have I have family with fetal alcohol syndrome. I also have a cousin who died because of complications she had at birth because her doctor induced her for no good reason!!! So yeah I don't gamble with my child's life. And I get mad when other do, because there are many people out there who can't even get pregnant! And then there are so many people here who just take it for granted!

@sexii_diiva, yeah my doc is like you've had all the meds you can have, so I want ya to go in labor tomorrow of course not, but if ya do you and baby will be fine, and as far as induction he said due to all the meds and steroids if I start to show signs of any problems I'm getting induced rather I'm 36-40, babies have a mind of their own and so do our bodies, I wrote her personally cause she's a ftm and I don't think she really knows or understands I replied to her after I replied to you all cause I kept reading her comments

@mrssabby that's my whole thing .. you can want a baby in to 40 weeks doenst mean you'll get your wish && they won't stop the labor I know at even 36 weeks.. so I just don't think it's a big deal @kaity0117 && again how am I risking my baby if my Dr said it's perfectly okay? you may think it's risky but I don't... now if he was to say to me then this & that will happen its a horrible decision then I wouldn't fight the Dr HW knows best. I simply said I don't want a valentines day baby && he said he can induce me a week early...I'm not pissed at anything but I feel people have these strong opinions about there drs..&& everyone think their own Dr is the only right answer... they have so many drs so many experiences... so many opinions...just like 1 Dr may say how great circumcision is -& another may say its not good... at the end of the day you're gonna trust your own Dr so you can't make someone elss change their mind && you can't make everyone agree with your Dr. that's my whole point

@kaity0117, this is your first baby, and usually first babies are almost either always overdue or at 37 weeks they very rarely come on time, I've had a preemie a 29 weeker and did nothing wrong I was sleep and my water broke, I also went into labor with my second at 29 wks and my labor was stopped and I had to be induced at 38 and a half, and now I'm 35 wks I've been in preterm labor twice no cause, I would love to keep this baby in until 40 wks but sometimes it doesn't work out that way, besides at this point I've had all the meds I can have and my baby is 6.5lbs and growing so if I go in labor tonight I will be bringing home a baby, so all doctors are different and a lot of changes come because women don't go to the doctor, they are not in tune with their bodies and most of them are not old school and use a calendar of some sort to track their periods and ovulation!!!!!!!

@yazdahboss, @kaity0117 @mmmirage @sexii_diiva @kori_mommy I don't know where they come up with all these changes, 12 yrs ago it was 37, 8 yrs ago it was 37 and today it's 37, my doc told me yesterday at my appointment if I went into labor he would be fine with it after all I've been through, he wants me to get to 37, and then to 39, but my high risk doc has been practicing for over 40 yrs and is a training doc for the new residents as well as my ob for 20yrs and also teaches, and if you know when ur last period was and are in tune with ur body then full term is still 37wks cause if you go in labor at 35-37 they won't stop it

Most first time babies go over their due date. And yeah it's your body and your baby but why would anyone risk their baby? And I'm sorry but I will protect any child. If that's makes me an awful horrible person well that's your opinion. But I don't care if I piss people off because I want to protect a child. Even if you feel it's safe.. It's still a risk. Maybe you want to gamble with the health of a baby but... I don't most people's reason to induce early is convince for them. Unless it's medically needed it's just selfish. Babies come out when they are ready to. My boyfriends aunt went 3 weeks over her due date and all her kids are smart and healthy kids. The one who has problems is the one who was induced early due to her being older. Sorry if you don't agree but a child comes first. @sexii_diiva

So children who have already been born, will they be considered premie now if they were born at 37 weeks?

Why would you want to risk that? If your baby comes then you deal with it... I don't see why you would force them out and risk problems... I find it selfish. I'm almost 39 weeks and I'm so uncomfortable... I can't sleep properly, I am in pain all the time but I don't want him coming before he's ready

@kaity0117 I understand but its kinda out of your control. if someone wants there baby induced earlier that's their business && their baby... just like you trust your Dr other people trust there Dr... mine said he would induce me at 39 weeks I trust him.. I just don't think it makes since to get yourself all worked up on what someone else wants to do with there baby.. it doesn't affect you in anyway shape or form... but yea baby usually come earlier anyway

yes.... even tho they changed it people have early babies all the time.. most babies don't wait the full 40 weeks so I wouldn't worry about it. I said I'm not worrying if my baby come out any earlier then 35 weeks... I would prefer no earlier then 37 weeks but from my understanding they will be okay if born that early... like 99 percent will still function normal at 35 weeks

Yes its possible but that doesn't mean they are full term. Your due date isn't a guaranteed thing. It's a guess... An educated guess but still a guess. That's why it's called an estimated due date. Or by measurements done with machine that uses sound waves... Something similar to echolocation! It's not perfectly accurate. That's why it's 4 week window... 28 days is 4 weeks and the gestational period is based of a regular period cycle... Which is 28 days. My midwife explained this all to me. She's been delivering babies for 18 years, so I trust her over the Internet... But by her accounts 38 weeks is safest. Doesn't mean someone else can't disagree but I get so frustrated at people who are inducing themselves before 40 weeks. The baby will come when they are ready. @sexii_diiva

yes that suck . I would like to think that full term is still at 37/38 because he will be able to breath on their own if born at that time. . @kaity0117 @kori_mommy @sexii_diiva @mmmirage

@kaity0117 I read if you have your baby at 36 weeks they will be fine... 35 weeks 1 percent may have some problems but not major problems

Yes smh my doc said the same thing full term is now 39 weeks, but if they keep changing it who Really knows when a baby is Really full term anyway!

Full term is 38 weeks. But each hospital has different views on that but most people go by 38 weeks because your due date can be off by a 28 day cycle so 4 weeks. Meaning you can have your baby anywhere from 38-42 weeks!

Full term pregnancies

Are doctors really still telling people that 37-38 weeks is full term???? ACOG and SMFM both define full term as 39-40 weeks. 37-38 is term. 41-32 is late term. Babies born at 37+ weeks are almost always just fine but there are clearly researched benefits to going to 39-40.
