Anyone else have an older kid with dyslexia or ADHD??

I know how u feel it gets me frustrated. because my 5 year old daughter in kindergarten is so smart and I wish my son would pick up like she does .

I think I wanna talk to her school about IEP... I print worksheets and things for her at home, but me being pregnant has me crying and shit when she starts to get disappointed in her work.. lbs! lol @mrs.oliva

he started testing at like 2 because he wasn't talking.. they did occupational therapy and speech therapy and also now he has IEP plans in school.

@mrs.oliva, what testing did they do, and when did it start? GiGi starts to scribble when she's frustrated with her work.. and tells the teacher up to 10 timed a day she needs to pee...they thought her bladder was bad...I'm like noooooo, she can't finish her work... Too many distractions.

my son is 7 and has been diagnosised with ADHD and developmentaly delayed .. he was in pre k and kindergarten twice and now in 1st grade . he still learning his letter sounds because he can't seem to fully focus and trust me it hurts me.

My husband is dyslexic and his brother is ADHD. Both are highly intelligent, fully functional adults. It just takes time and patience. :) My husband actually loves to read now and does so at a high pace and understanding and my brother in law is a chef up in Ohio managing completely without meds. Try reading the book "The Gift of Dyslexia" by Ronald Davis. It's really helpful with understanding what your daughter may be going through. ☺

@zenmom7, give her time and practice with her as much as u can. my niece started off writing her whole name backwards an now she's at the top of her class

she's 6. been to prek and currently in KG. she has a super hard time correlating sounds to words. She's just learned how to fix all of her backwards writing.. she gets so frustrated. it saddens me.

I was too. I'm pretty sure my daughter has both.. I haven't thought about it until now... @meplusmytwo

I was diagnosed with dyslexia growing up got it from my dad but I overcame it. Idk if my daughter has it she's 3
