anybody on here ever been diagnosed with group b strep a couple weeks before delivery?
usually its not thatvmuch of a problem. your doctor will have an antibiotic picked out before hand. and just make sure you go to the hospital asap with contractions
I'm just worried I won't make it in time to get all the medicine. But my boyfriend had to stay in the hospital a week when he was born because his mom didn't get any of the medicine and he's totally fine, so I'm not like really freaking out about it too much. @can2015
don't be nervous it will be fine no need to stress about it a lot of women have it.
@kaylhunt2, that's what I'm scared of. I'm allergic to penicillin. and what if I don't get to the hospital in time to have the antibiotics that long?
Yea my Dr told me yesterday I have it. I'm allergic to penicillin and that's the main one they give but she told me they would give another kind. I'm beyond nervous and stressing! @soontobemommy @ahylton @aimes102 @bree31
yup. wasnt too big of a deal. the only issues i had with it was because im allergic to amoxicillin and penicillin. when i went into labor they started me on antibiotics and i finished and had my baby 6 hours later. doctors usually like to have the antibiotics in your system for 4 hours before giving birth
My doctor told me I had it and that when I went into labor as long as I had enough antibiotics it wouldn't affect him. I'm kinda nervous about it but she said it's fine and not to stress about it. @can2015
Yeah they are all fine they just monitor them but everything was fine
yep with my first two babies I didn't make it in time to get it with my first but my second I only got half a dose
how many weeks were you when you delivered? And how long did you have the antibiotics? @aimes102
Yup I did with my last child, I got to hospital in time to get my antibiotics and my son was born healthy
were the antibiotics given through iv while you were in labor n delivery? how many weeks were you? @bree31
yes I was with my 1st pregnancy. they gave me antibiotic to take so that it wouldn't affect my daughter during her vaginal birth. once she was born it went away. I never had it again with my other two pregnancies or my current one.
don't stress yaself, I'm sure the drs will do all they can make sure you're OK and that the baby is born healthy.
