It was definitely easier for me & my son to go straight to underwear rather than use the pull up because he just thought it was another diaper that you just put on a different way. so it was useless for us. it really does just depend on the child

Hmm, I may go with pull-ups first and see how she does in those. Idk yet. Thanks for all of the help (: @jamie_renea03

@january10th, @jamie_renea03, that's true. I guess it depends on the kids when it comes to pull ups. I worked at a daycare and some kids in pull-ups actually did tell me when they did/needed to poop or pee. But ya'll think going right to panties would be easier?

Its just something you gotta stick to if you wanna make it happen. And pull ups are worthless in my opinion....didn't phase my daughter one bit.

I did because if I put a pull up on him he would pee or poo with out telling me & with underwear he would tell me if he hand an accident he never pooped in his underwear just pee.

@jamie_renea03, true, accidents do happen, but not going to be looking forward to the messes. Not that I'm too lazy to clean it up. It's just hard to get around right now. This pregnancy is painful /:

@january10th, so should I skip pull ups all together then?

yes @laura_love lol but its potty training....accidents happen but she sure didn't like it and didn't do it often which helped to potty train her quicker. At night is definitely the hardest part though. I had to take my daughters cups away earlier at night so she didn't wet the bed...took a little bit but now she hasn't had a accident in a long long long time lol she'll be 4 years old this coming Saturday

@january10th, that's a great idea (: but do they make panties for itty bitty 13 month olds?

buy her some panties let her wear them tell her they are her big girl panties she'll get the hang of it. it's better than her running around naked lol get her a little potty & see what she does & everytime you go to the potty take her & put her one hers. praise her alot when she goes & even when she doesn't tell her she still did a good job by trying.

@ashley1215, I can see that. I've heard it's better to start them younger too

I think my daughter was 2-2 1/2...I potty trained her quick by taking her to the potty with me and letting her run around the house with nothing but panties...she peed a couple times in panties but hated it.

@january10th, she's not too fond of diaper changes. Seems like she'd rather be without one than with one @krb0911, awesome (: now just got to find a good potty trainer

yes my daughter is out of diapers completely. I was told the longer you wait some times it makes it more difficult to potty train. I found that to be true with my step son. he was 2 and we were pregnant. as soon as I found out about being pregnant I started to potty train him. he could talk and understand me but to him it was easier I guess to just go in a diaper or his underwear. it took months to break him of that.

@rachelmariecroxton, that's what I was thinking. That it'd make it easier. Less diapers to change

@ashley1215, I take her in the bathroom with me at times, hoping it'll spark her curiosity. She'll walk to the handle and try to flush it after I do, haha. Is she out of diapers at night now? I've heard that's the hardest part

well just my oldest my youngest talked but I could tell he was ready to be potty trained he hated diapers so I started with having my oldest take him to the potty & showing him how to go & asking every once I a while if he had to potty & even if he said no I would still put him on the potty he caught on fast cause of his older brother.

Sure so she knows what's going on. I would introduce the potty and see how it goes :)

@january10th, so basically when they started talking clearly?

@krb0911, my daughter will sometimes crouch down when she poops and, I think, sometimes when she pees. Would you count that as a sign?

Well, since you have another on the way, I think starting now might make it a little bit easier on you when she gets here. It just seems like less stress, I think. I'd rather start then early, to not only make it easier on us, but it'll make it easier on their butts too, you won't have rashes to worry about. @laura_love

I started my daughter as soon as she started walking around 10 months I believe. I didn't force her though, I'd just take her when I went and she's sit on her potty. soon after she learned what to do. she was potty trained by 12 months. I'd just put a diaper on her at bedtime. well she ended up with the flu for 8 days so that threw us back into a hole but by the time she was 14 to 15 months she would tell me she had to go potty. she's 2 now and is doing great!

That's what my fiancé wanted to do. He wanted to get her started when she started walking. She was 11 months, though. Just a little to soon, I think. I kinda wanted to start before baby sister gets here in Feb. She'll be 15 months then @rachelmariecroxton

I believe the best time to start is when they start telling either they need to go or I need changed. Most of the time it isn't started till 2 and then by 3 they are completely diaper less. you van definitely introduced the potty and see what happens

I don't have kids yet, but, with mine due in May I was gonna start as soon as mine started walking and actually saying words.

Don't punish your child for having accidents 4.) Don't give you child candy 5.) Don't compare other children to your child 6.) Do praise your child 7.) Clap your hands when your child goes to the potty. 8.)Take your child every 15-30 minutes to the potty 9.)Don't criticize your child 10.) I don't recommend pull ups but I don't bash mothers who decided to use them. 11.) Remember potty training is not taught in one day you have to be determined to potty train your child.
