ok some may judge but hopefully not. for a while I've taken a half of a 10 mg oxycodone for my back not prescribed to me (5 mg all together in one day) off and on never regular except for little over a week now I've taken half a day . mainly to help me sleep with this horrible back pain. I asked my Dr months ago if it was un safe she said no the only thing that could happen is if anything like that was taken everyday on a regular basis at the end the baby could have with draws. it is a class b drug and safer than a lortab that's class c... anywaymy question to you guys is ill be 33 weeks tomorrow and I don't plan on taking anything else for my back And I didn't take that many so there's no chance of any kind of with draw right? ?

@kateferrera, do you think it would be better to take half of lortab on occasion for back rather than the oxy?

I understand, I asked them to stop prescribing it to me when I found out I was pregnant (I was already 6mos along when I found out) so ever since then ive taken my old ones because I never took them as much as I was prescribed. Just relax, everything will be fine.. Don't worry so much. You're not hurting the baby. We have to be OK in order for our babies to be OK. You don't have to bring anything up to your dr that you don't feel comfortable with. I've talked to my DR but that's because I was already 6 months pregnant when I found out so Baby & I had to undergo more tests then a normal pregnant woman would, because I was on a cocktail of meds , anti depressants, pain killers, muscle relaxers, benzos.. & the only thing I was told was OK was the norco.. So that's the only thing I continued to really take..

thank you so much. I worry myself so much even after doing research and talking to Dr. I always think I'm just a horrible person and something will be wrong with my baby, And looks I did before I try to only take it ibn the evening close to bed time or if I take it during the day I'll try not to take one at night. and the worst part is there not prescribed to me because I'm too scared to ask of talkanymore about it with my Dr so I get some from a family member. .

It's actually a class c drug & loratab (norco) is safer to take while pregnant. I've been on norco throughout my pregnancy due to my back pain and I've done so much research on it, & talked to countless drs. These drugs don't get to the baby the way people think it does, both of these drugs are Tylenol on steroids pretty much.. My doctor told me that babies will not withdraw from medications like this because it doesn't get to the baby in that kind of way. The way we become dependent on it is through our brains. So as long as you're not over doing it, baby will be fine. I'm 37 weeks and I've actually switched from norco to tramadol because it's not as addictive.. & it's not as strong! The reason why drs don't like patients taking this medication this late in pregnancy is because our bodies build up resistance to it so when we have our babies the pain killers won't do the job they're supposed to do, and they prescribe oxycodone to you for pain relief if you have a c section and norco to you if you give birth vaginally.. That's because oxycodone is a lot stronger than norco. If I were you, I would taper just in case. That's what I did and switched to something not as strong.. The withdraws suck but it'll be better for you & baby in the end and save you a great deal of pain.
