i did blood work my first appointment & this past appointment on Monday. Thats when i found out what i was havin.

i just did it with my 2nd. they do an ultra sound and look at the fat of skin on the back of neck. they draw blood from arm vein not tummy.. i was scared as well but it was just like a regular visit but they took some blood

I had the test an it was an ultrasound never did I get a shot. they did measurements an things that I didn't understand the names an that's how they tested for down syndrome. the only needles I had was when they did my blood work

I'm thinking about changing real soon

@030815, I have had the down syndrome test and they just took like 6 tubes of blood.

what doctor do you go to?. Ive had blood work but not a shot in my stomach.

@030815, I was a little over 18 weeks when they did mine. tell them unless its a super big concern than you don't want to do it.

all they did was draw like six tubs of blood for mine

I had it done. I was scares because of all the things that could happen. it did hurt, but I wanted a real answer cause I kept getting different answers. I still had to take another blood test after that cause they found something else. @030815 did they say you should have it done?

@030815 they only do the shot if your blood work comes back abnormal. but I wouldn't risk the shot if I were you.... it could cause miscarriage. I personally chose to not do the down syndrome test because I am young and the chances are very slim. also you're blood work has a good chance of coming back as a false positive. Idk I just think it's unnecessary stress to put on yourself because when you get ultrasounds later they will be able to tell If your babe has any abnormalities. sorry long response lol.
