We're a newer generation so when the flu was first introduced we weren't those ppl who first experienced and grew immune to the virus but with time and after many ppl "died" from it as well, we learned and created antibodies to fight it. With the coronavirus, it's a virus it's not curable it can only be managed by letting it run its course just like the flu, but unlike the flu, if you look at the statistics it hasn't killed nearly as many ppl as the flu has yearly.
