Forty years ago, the image of a push-button phone flying across the lap of a surprised Columbus teenager would travel around the world, turning the North Side girl into an international curiosity long before the birth of social media and viral moments.

Taken by former Columbus Dispatch photographer Fred Shannon, the photo ran on the front page of the March 6, 1984, newspaper with a story about Tina Resch's purported telekinetic ability to cast dishes, cutlery, books and other household items. Showers reportedly turned on unaided, lights would dim and flash, eggs taken from the refrigerator would leap from the stove and splatter on the ceiling.
