Older people love to hit us with the “well back in my day…”
Okay… but you lived in a completely different world.
Back in your day, groceries didn’t cost half a paycheck.
Rent wasn’t the price of a luxury vacation every month.
Kids could play outside without the world feeling terrifying.
One income could support an entire family.
Moms had actual villages, not judgment from every direction.
It’s not the same.
We’re parenting in a world that’s louder, scarier, more expensive, and way more overwhelming. So no — we’re not doing things the way you did.
We’re doing what works right now, in the reality we’re living in.
“Back in your day” doesn’t apply to the pressure parents face today.
Respectfully… it’s a whole new era, and we’re surviving the best we can. 🖤
