Как сказать маме о поведении ребёнка?
I haven’t been on here in forever but I figured I would get some advice here. I am super conflicted as to how to handle this situation. I have a newer group of friends I met who all have kids so we meet weekly for them to all hang out. One of the kids is super destructive, extreme outbursts etc. I had them over my house and he went in my sons room and opened Pokémon cards my son just got and threw them all over and toys as well nearly breaking his shelf where he has display figures. I don’t usually allow kids to go in bedrooms for this reason but he ignored my rules. I didn’t know this until after they left or I wound have said something in the moment. At another friends home he tried to break a game controller as he was mad he lost in the game.
He is a school aged child who should know better. The other siblings of this child are fine for the most part. They definitely need a lesson in manners but they aren’t destroying my home.
I am not one to bash on a child but I cannot have them at my house until he can behave. We work hard to have nice things and a nice home so it’s very upsetting. The Mom will yell in the moment but I don’t know what happens after they leave. How do I tell the mother that I can’t have them over my house anymore without being an asshole? Any advice or experience would be appreciated.
My kids know better and that I would never tolerate them behaving this way at our home or someone else’s.

Sounds like this child may have a behavior and/or mental health disorder. Please be kind. Maybe recommend meeting in a public place moving forward.

This 100%. This sounds like a child with special needs which, depending on his age, may not be getting addressed. I wouldn’t have the child over or take measures to prevent damage (lock and close doors, close supervision, etc). If you’re not comfortable with that then you can always meet at a park if you want to continue the play dates.

@theycallmemommy, I understand the delicate conversation and how hard it can be. How old is this kiddo?

Yes, I agree. He is 9 years old. The same age as my youngest son. He also has an older brother who is the same age as my oldest which was nice since each kid had someone to play with. I appreciate your suggestions. I will be talking to the Mom tomorrow and hoping for the best outcome.
I would hate to see him not getting the services he needs and it only becoming worse down the road.

I would tell the mom what went on at your home and explain that you dont want him at your house anymore, but you guys can meet in public, be brutally honest but have a ginger touch about it. My son has behavior issues (no fault to him. He just has mental issues) . i would want a mom to be brutally honest with me if my son had done something.

@theycallmemommy i totally understand, and i hate confronting people too. My daughter is special needs. I get it. You have to tread carefully. It's like you dont want to imply you know best, but you want to give her guidance and assistance on reaching out to someone to help her son

Absolutely. I see there are a lot of issues at hand but we aren’t in a school setting and he isn’t a student of mine so it’s a very different situation. I think I am just going to say such and such happened and I wanted to bring it to your attention. I will suggest meeting elsewhere for a while. I am going to put it out there as kindly as possible that he may need some intervention and school can help with resources if she is interested.

i think thats a good idea!
