How to stop my 3-year-old's bed habit?
How can I break the habit of my 3 year old coming to my bed every night 😭 he doesn’t have issues falling asleep in his room , but he always wakes up and walks straight to our bed . I didn’t have an issue with it at first bcus I thought he had a bad dream or scared . But now it’s almost every night it’s been going on for about 4 months . Ive tried locking the door but he cries so much I feel so bad & end up letting him in . I’m barely getting any sleep.

For me It was about being consistent, when my son was 3 1/2 I would bring my son back to his bed no matter how much he cried I would sit on the floor next to him and calm him down and I would tell him if he stood in his bed all night he’d get a prize in the morning, I would do a matchbox car everyday for like a week or two and then he just starting staying in his bed with no prize needed. I did the same with my daughter I do have a light projector in her room and she’d get like a sticker the next day, also she has a stuffed animal of her choice. sometimes she still comes to my room but I remind her she’s a big girl and we will see one another when she wakes up in the morning but she has to stay in her bed.

To stop this habit in my youngest we allowed her to come in. Said ok we will cuddle for 3 minutes or whatever amount of time you choose and then you have to go back to bed. Eventually she gave up and just stopped coming in.

I’ve tried this and unfortunately did not work , he’s so persistent . Or maybe I’m too soft . I’m going to try the reward system for a week and hope it works ☺️ thank you for the suggestions ladies

I'm still trying to get my child to not sleep with us lol yes to the moms who says he's 7 make him well they can come do it for me because I have tried and he won't want to sleep with me forever!

@mybabybear yeah we wish he would get out of our bed he takes up the whole middle but my husband and I have just gone with the flow and know this will not last forever and one day he will decide he is ready to sleep on his own and not need us for that comfort

I finally had to throw in the towel on the kids sleeping alone. I really have a hard time falling back asleep once I’ve been woken up and my health improved greatly once I accepted defeat. Oldest comes in my bed whenever he needs to and I sleep in my little guy’s room probably 1/2 the night every day. Everyone is happier when mom sleeps!

yeah some nights I sleep in brodys room not many times but that way everyone sleeps

LOL my kiddo is 8 and still does this, but we don't mind. We have a California King size bed so there is enough room and it's only for a couple of hours, he doesn't usually come in until like 2am

I don’t think we would mind if the bed was bigger but we have a queen , and we’re planning to have another baby so it might be a bit more difficult then .
