Hey y’all! General question/advice needed! My 2 year hasn’t been eating much at all for the past 3 days. I’m not to concerned because he’s always been a picky eater or for better words he picks at food and goes…My husband is concerned and wants me to email our pedi to see about starting pediasure for him. The only reason I’m not so concerned is because he was diagnosed as being borderline for autism….I won’t have the full results until next month…but from everything I’ve been reading and all the resources I’ve gotten…It’s known that children like him are pick and go eaters. What do y’all think?! I’m going to email our pedi regardless but just want outside opinions….
Thank you! My daughter was a little picky around my 2 year olds age but nothing crazy like how he is, so it’s definitely something new that I’m battling with him. The food diary is definitely a great idea, I’ll definitely be doing that! I just feel terrible sometimes, you no?
@nunyabuzzz, terrible bc he’s not eating? Ya I get it but you gotta find other ways to get him calories. I still do smoothies frequently and pack them full of protein. ESP when it gets so hot in summer and he just doesn’t feel like eating a whole lot for dinner.
I gave my son pediasure in between meals bc he’s picky and it helps w calorie intake. There’s nothing wrong with it either way. My son wasn’t maintaining or gaining weight for the longest time and it def helped. Plus he thought they were milkshakes. Definitely has nothing to do with autism, kids are picky on their own so I wouldn’t wait for that result to make a decision.
You can also keep a food diary and make sure he’s getting his caloric needs otherwise he is going to start losing weight and kids should not be.
