No I don’t think it’s too young. I give my kids my old phones when I get new ones that way if they loose or break it, It’s not that big of a deal. Even my baby has a phone lmao but only my 14 year old has service the rest just use it on wifi. I would make sure there are rules before giving the phone, and make sure you have access to everything. My kids all have iPhones so through iCloud we have a family account and they can’t download anything without permission, as well as I can shut off their access and see how much time they spend on certain apps or the internet.

I think its up to the parent and what they need it for. Every child is different and family situation. I think starting out with the less expensive phone is best until they show they are responsible with it.

I think I depends. My 9 year old had one because sometimes I leave her at dance during her class and if they get out early she can contact me. It’s a real cheap one but she has her dads old iPhone she uses with WiFi.She will be getting a better one at 10 because that’s what me and her father agreed on. You just have to know your child and think of what they will need it for and if they can be trusted to be safe with it. I like her being able to contact me whenever she’s not with me.

For me cellphones are a safety thing. If my kid had to walk a far distance everyday or be alone at practice for sports I’d want them to have a phone. For games and fooling around on the internet? Hell no. That’s what they have toys for.

Depends on the maturity of the child. Also are you getting a phone with internet access or just for calls? My 13yo stepson just got his second phone. This one is basic, calls and txt only. His mum gave him one last year with internet and was doing the wrong thing with it. He has ADHD and is on the spectrum, so doesn't have the same level of maturity as other kids his age.

You need to spend that money on a tutor for your self for spelling.
