Have you ever let your child stay home from school for a mental health day? If so what was your reasoning behind it and what did you send in as an excuse? I’m just curious as I’ve done this for my daughter!
Yes absolutely. If I feel like they just need a break or some one on one time with me, I don't hesitate to let them stay home (it happens maybe 2 times throughout the school year). Sometimes when the weather breaks and it starts to get warm again, I'll surprise them and pick them up early from school to go to the beach or something. I don't send in any excuses to the school. I don't feel like it's any of their business and I don't need to explain it to them
@ksmommyx3 omg same with Luna she's on a waiting list to go to an academy and I know once she goes that little short biddy is gonna punk everyone 💀. We'll both need luck
Yes we have
I have went to get them early as a surprise and said they had an appointment and we headed to the movies or somewhere fun to give them a break. They’ve never asked me for a day off but I surprise them with one once on a while
I’m honest and tell Zays teachers that he’s having a mental health day. That way they don’t think he needs to be tested. That being said, I’ve only done it twice since preschool.
Yes. I just say he’s sick or we are want to keep him home for monitoring. And my reasoning behind it is even kids need to maintain a good mental health. I mean I need days off too. More than just a weekend so I completely understand it.
We do virtual public school and always have, so our schedule is flexible, I wouldn't need to turn in an excuse if we make up the attendance hours another day. But we have absolutely, 100% taken a weekday off and relaxed or went somewhere fun and then just caught it up over the weekend. I think mental health/rest days are absolutely fine occasionally.
