40w2d and my cervix is still being uncooperative. Is it possible to have a dysfunctional cervix? I almost went 42 weeks with my first and had my midwife pop my water so I didn’t have to go to the hospital as high risk. I’m really starting to get discouraged that my cervix knows what to do
My cervix never dilates on its own. They have to basically pry it open to get a balloon in there to get me to start dilating. It’s painful. But worth it. Csections scare the crap outta me. Lol
@addeeisme, as long as the balloon starts up harder more frequent contractions then I’m getting now I’ll be happy
@addeeisme, it’s an inpatient thing though, they’d have to admit you & call it an induction…you wouldn’t leave without having baby! But it’s an option.
@addeeisme, and honestly, them getting the balloon is was painful but dilating with it was nothing. Didn’t even realize I had dilated at all with it until it fell out when I went to pee. That’s the good part. Lol You don’t even notice it.
My cervix is all scar tissue from cervical cancer and surgery, so I am incapable of dilating myself. With boys both I need a balloon, but they didn’t figure it out until day 4 of active labor and being stuck at a 1 with my first……. That was a shit show
@addeeisme, I didn’t feel it honestly. With my first they gave me morphine to help me relax, so I didn’t feel my own body. With my second I was induced so I got my epidural early
@addeeisme, the worst part of the balloon is that if they do the pill insert as well you can’t get out of bed, even to use the bathroom. But it falls out once you get to 4cm.
I needed pitocin both times because my cervix didn’t cooperate. I’d have contractions on top of one another but my cervix wouldn’t budge even after my water started leaking.
Yes, I didn’t dilate past 6 with my daughter and had a c-section. With my son I didn’t dilate at all and had another c-section 😢 I carried until 40 weeks and had zero pregnancy complications but my body didn’t cooperate when it came time to deliver.
