So a little update on my daughter.. today she decided to run out of the building, now the principal is fearing for her safety.. yea you & me both! They want to bring a therapist in next week to speak with her.. I know they’re doing their jobs I get that but everything I have asked or suggested has been pushed to the side. I’m not comfortable with my daughter actually leaving the school now.. I don’t know what to do.

I don’t understand how she was able to without an adult being there to stop her. I would set a meeting up with the principal or counselor and go over your concerns and how you want them addressed.

@dope.ass.mom, keep calling and calling until they listen to you. It’s your child and this is unacceptable. And if the teacher won’t listen then try a counselor, all schools are supposed to have one. Then try the principal. If that doesn’t work try calling the school board.

I agree, and them saying she was lucky, was uncalled for. I thought all schools had school guards posted at the exit? Maybe that’s a city school thing. But ugh I’m sorry @dope.ass.mom, and I’m hoping you guys can figure it out together and she’ll adjust more easier. She’s still so small and it’s hard adjusting to a new setting with new people. 💓

I know it breaks my heart hearing from the teachers that she’s running out & crying. I don’t think they have security on the premises. I wish they would just give her an aide or someone to just sit with her until she gets it.

What services does she receive with her IEP? Do you know what special ed category she qualifies under? What strategies have they implemented with her?

Her IEP is for speech they said, I’m not sure what special Ed category she would be under & I think it’s because they haven’t seen her actually work yet. They want to bring in a therapist that deals with children who have anxiety, depression & students transitioning but that will take another week or so to get all the paperwork for that processed.
