How Can I Manage Housework and Mental Load with 4 Kids?
With 4 kids I feel like I'm drowning in housework. I get really good where I get the laundry caught up and the kids socks all folded and masks neatly put in their baskets to choose for school, dishes caught up, and clean floors. But ,I am behind on literally everything. I feel suffocated under this mountain of responsibilities. Not just the cleaning but having to be the one that has to remember everything for everyone. Us women it feels like we are the ones who carry the mental load of our families and it seems like that side of things geta forgotten about.

Oh I feel this and I only have 2 . It’s a consent struggle for me to find time to tackle everything and give the girls the attention they deserve

I feel you! I refuse to fold socks tho, no way no how! They go in the drawer and grab 2 and go! 😄 Overwhelming to say the least. Clothes is where I always feel the most stressed. No matter what I do they are every place I look.

It's worse on days I'm not home much. Toys everywhere, laundry needing done, dishes puled up, counters are a dumping ground for everyone's stuff, dirt and sticky on the floors.... I just need someone to play with my kids outside for a solid 1.5 hours and I could catch up on literally everything. But I have an almost 2 year old going behind me undoing what I did or spilling juice where I just mopped and a 7 month old who I wear as much as I can because she is so needy but i have horrible back pain. And then my older 2 i have to keep up with their schedules and all their appts coming up and I'm just struggling a little under all of it. And on top of that I need to write out a menu for meal planning and go grocery shopping before my inlaws come this weekend and get my guest room cleaned up 🥴

@scidg3 normally yes but they are coming up because my husband's great uncle died. So they will be busy with family stuff, we are just providing housing for them.

Maybe have the older kids help. My son put his laundry away and helps fold. He keeps his rooms clean playroom and bedroom, he helps with dishes and vacuum and mopping. He has even started helping me cook dinner the nights we cook. It helps out hes been helping since 4 on some things

They help me pick up toys and clean their rooms but they are only home 3 hours a day before they go to bed. As soon as they get home I have to make dinner to be ready by 5. I let them play so they have some play time with their own toys and after dinner is having them pick up toys while I care for the youngest and then its bed time. They do a lot to help but I also want them to have time to play and have down time to decompress from school.
