So a few weeks ago I posted about my MIL having Covid and being on oxygen 24/7 way before Covid. She seemed to have handled it alright until today. My husband literally just got home and his father called him bawling because MIL can’t breathe even with her oxygen, she can’t get up out of bed and she can’t quit coughing. He wants to take her to the hospital but needs help getting her in the car. I told my husband to have him call 911 because my FIL is a very very round man and can’t fit behind the steering wheel to drive. But noooooo my husband volunteers to go down there and help which I understand but also I don’t. That’s what ambulances are for. But idk what they expect either because our hospital is full and has no room at all. And I’ve also spent the day at urgent care (waiting in my car) with our sick 9 year old. Her Covid, strep and flu tests are negative. Why risk bringing it into our house?!?!? I know my in laws haven’t been cleaning because they’ve been sick so I’m worried about the virus still being in their house. I’ve already had a very stressful day and now this. I feel bad also because I love my MIL and my husband broke into tears because she fits the criteria for those that go to the hospital and don’t come back because of Covid. Geez this is all over the place I’m sorry and thank you if you even read this

Oh, what a damn mess. I totally understand your concern and he should have called 911. Is he wearing a good mask around her? Tell him to open every window in the house and leave them open. She sounds like she is in very rough shape, I hope they can find room for her.

He grabbed a cloth mask as he ran out the door. Unfortunately I don’t think any of the windows can be gotten to and I know several of them are screwed shut. FIL did that when his kids were younger so they couldn’t sneak out and never undid it. Ridiculous right?! Ugh I’m a mess right now. I’m about to Lysol my whole house, for the second time today!

I know he just panicked at hearing his dad bawling, but jeez. :( I would make him change his clothes outside and immediately shower when he comes home.
I was just reading an article (poem?) by a mom called "I'm so f*cking tired" and she writes that she's tired of thinking about mitigating risks every second of the day, tired if saying "I'm done" and you can't actually be done. Covid has taken a lot out of us and aged us.
Heather··
that’s what I was thinking too. I’d at least have a clean set of clothes on the porch for him and I’ve got the blinds down so no one would be able to see him.
And yes! That mother is speaking what every mother is feeling! It’s been the most draining thing ever. And it’s non stop constant worry. I feel it will never stop for me. It’s a risk to my kids to get Covid and it’s a risk to get the vaccine. The dr still says the risk is too great for him and he suggests we avoid the vaccine which makes me stress and have anxiety even more than I already did. I’m about ready to move to my own island with no one else on it so I won’t have to deal with this anymore

I understand why you wouldn't want him to help since she is sick with covid. Ugh I'm so sorry you all are dealing with this 😞, hopefully she gets better and they can help her
Heather··
I wish she would have listened to me in the first damn place and she might not have gotten Covid. That’s partly why I’m so angry! She never wore a mask at all.
JenX··
and with her issues she should have been first in line for a vax, and always wearing a mask. :( She's really gotten into a situation now.
Heather··
I know 😩😩 she has no reason to not get the vaccine! It’s maddening

That's so hard. I'm sorry your going though it I hope she recovers

Omg this is awful. Is he at least wearing a mask when he comes into contact with them. If not it's only a matter of time before he gets it too. This scares me for you.

This is horrible. The ambulance should have been called because they can help with any emergent things that could arise. I’m so sad and angry for you. Hoping for the best!
Heather·
@jenx, @uni.cheapskate, @massgirl, @harleyquinn13, they ended up calling an ambulance. My husband was pretty upset when he got there because 3 of his sisters and their husbands were there. Apparently his father called everyone freaking out. Husband stayed outside since they didn’t need him. He still came home and changed clothes. He’s now worried about his father. He said it sounds like he needs oxygen but couldn’t tell if it was just because he was upset. They just assumed he had Covid also, and he’s diabetic and very overweight and on meds for all kinds of issues. I’m so upset they didn’t listen to anything and now are paying for it. Last I heard MIL was still waiting to see if they could find her a room.
JenX··
I am so glad he didn't go inside.
Your FIL probably needs to go in, too. He's so high risk it isn't funny and if he was caring for her.
It's devastating because it's preventable, but I really feel for your family. I'm sure your FIL got overlooked in all the chaos.
