I am so torn right now. Covid is getting bad in my state and slowing starting to spread to my town. Now our governor is wanting to open our state to refugees from Afghanistan. While i feel for them extremely and it’s absolutely horrible what’s happening, I’m also terrified of a flood of more people and spreading Covid even more. And now there have been a few cases of the Lambda Covid in the state on top of very rare disease called melioidosis that’s been reported in the state. I’m not sure what to think anymore. 😔

I don't think Afghanis are an immediate issue for you in regards to getting sick...people in your town are way more likely to give you Covid. Honestly, these people will probably be vaccinated on entry to the US. These families are refugees of terrorists and we need to be kind to them ❤ I'm just saying that Covid isn't a reason to not open your state, not that you aren't entitled to your opinion. I hope you know that 😘

@jenx, I also have to remind myself this isn’t the same as people illegally crossing the border and bringing more cases. This is completely different.

I do get your concern though. But honestly, these refugees are a drop in the covid bucket compared to antivaxers and anti maskers running around all over town.

very true! I couldn’t believe the amount of people at the school without masks for meet your teacher night. My girls got their cotton candy and we walked as far away from people as we could so they could safely eat it.
