I started this but covid brain fog is a real thing. So is the Benadryl haze too though, not my favorite. I’ll try this again!

Great video visit fresh faced in my clean jammies! My doctor thanked me for being vigilant and vaccinated early on in the process. He said with my medical history I am a high risk patient who would likely be hospitalized if I wasn’t vaccinated. He explained that my Covid rash was likely a histamine response and the infusion is known to cause a rash in many patients as well. That’s why it got so bad. He explained I can’t do steroids to better heal so my current itchy meds combo is Benadryl, Zyrtec and Pepcid. Yes, what many don’t know is Pepcid is also known to keep the itch at bay but it’s main purpose and it’s primary marketing is as an acid reducer. If I’m still itching in the next week, then I’ll go have a liver panel done. Apparently this virus can cause liver damage and itching is a symptom!

Otherwise, I can say the combo of being vaccinated and the extra antibodies are why I only feel like I have a mild flu. My energy comes and goes while I live in this mild Benadryl haze.

Unfortunately, my father in law tested positive today. He’s a diabetic, dialysis patient and a two time stroke survivor. He too was vaccinated back in April. Zay was at his house last Tuesday because of hubbys surgery so he got it from his own grandson. We feel awful, but glad we got everyone tested and caught it in everyone early.

I’m noticing there might be a pattern with us breakthrough cases, we all have a previously existing condition. I really hope they’re researching that. My doctor said that he’s seeing a lot more breakthrough cases and that the percentage is about to go up a bit. He’s happy with my progress and all we can do is take care of ourselves.

Zay is extra moody, mild cough. My Dad says he feels better but he has the sweats a lot. He said it’s annoying. Once it’s over he’s tired again. We are doing the best we can in a crappy situation. We ordered board games, construction paper and coloring books for now. My brothers best friend will end up staying almost a month. What a journey and I still have a week of for sure quarantine.
