Has anyone ever been on the medication sumatriptan? My doctor prescribed it to me for my chronic migraines. Just curious if it’s worked for anyone. I’m very sensitive to medication so I’m going to cut it in half when a migraine comes on. Also, anyone have good experiences with lexapro? Was also recommended that med for my depression/anxiety. My body is just so damn sensitive that anything can make me sick or just have bad reactions. I’ve tried so many anxiety and depression meds and nothing has ever worked for me to where I gave up. It’s been 7 years since I have been on any meds and I’m willing to try again. TIA! :)

It's so hard to trust meditations. I feel like I have anxiety too. I tried celexa but only lasted 2 days. It was the devil. I couldnt do it. Doc said you have to give it time but I wasnt willing to continue. It was scary and made me feel more anxious. I just order something off of amazon that received great reviews called zenium. I'm on day 4. So far I've been feeling less stressed but still active and not dead. So I think it's working lol (Still on testing mode) but maybe try something like that and see before dealing with heavy meds. Good luck!🙏🙏🙏

I tried lexapro about 11 years ago. It made me feel like an empty shell. Yes my anxiety was gone but so were all of my other emotions. I also gained 20lbs and had sexual dysfunction on it.

7 yrs is horrible to deal with, I had them since I was 16 and never knew what they were until mid 20’s, finally started treatments (many failed) when I was about 32. And now I finally found a monthly inj that actually shortens my migraine days. I started this just last year. A long hard road for sure. I hope yours works🥰

You should give anxiety and depression meds about 8-12 weeks to make a difference. Especially if it’s a low dose, it needs time to build up in your system but meds are really just a bandaid to an underlying issue and should almost always be coupled with some type of talk-therapy or counseling. Medication isn’t going to “fix” anxiety and sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to find the best fit. Being open with your prescribing doctor and a referral for a mental health professional is key. GP doctors aren’t specialized in mental health but a mental heath professional would be able to assess your needs better and find meds that work.

I’m in therapy with a psychologist currently, and I’ve always stayed on one medication for a 3-6 months before trying a new med. This was yearsssss ago though. I’m willing to try again. I don’t plan on being on them for the rest of my life, just to get the edge off until I work through my underlying issues.

Yes, most medications that are preventatives, taken longterm should be given a longer time before reporting back to the doctor on improvements etc. at least a month or two.

Unless you have terrible side effects.

My sister takes lexapro and she’s been telling me how much it’s helped her! Hope this helps🙂

I’ve heard nothing but good things, I’ll have to ask about it.

Yes I take it for migraines orally and now nasal. (Onset)

It only works for me half of the time. Sometimes it works well but then there are times it does nothing if I take it too late and pain sets in.

Every case for every person is different though.

I also have rizatriptan and a monthly injection.

I heard rizatriptan is better because it doesn’t make you feel “heavy”, I only plan on taking it when my migraine is barely functionable

@mamatocam8516xo, both makes me feel yucky for the first hour I take them but it goes away. And sumo is never mixed with riz. I take one or the other.

@mamatocam8516xo, best method is to take it once you start feeling like a migraine is coming, if you wait until it gets strong, the chances of the medication working is less likely. I hate that but it is why I carry them with me where ever I go. I also take it with naproxen. Not exceeded 2 sumatriptans/day.

I took Lexapro back in the day and it worked well. I'm actually supposed to be on it now but I stopped taking it because I don't wanna take anything daily. If you need it, take it though.

I use it only when my migraines are absolutely TERRIBLE. It makes me feel like an elephant sat on my chest for like 15 minutes . Then I’m a zombie. But it definitely takes care of the migraine

That’s what my sister says, that it makes her chest feel super heavy and over all weird.
