Awhile back I posted asking for advice on how alimentun formula was for their little ones...for colicky and protein sensitivity...I’m back again for more advice. I just want to say that I’ll be calling the doctor on Monday about my concerns but my little guy is still miserable 24/7! Crying....to the point where nothing is soothing him. I’ve tried gas drops, gripe water...bicycle legs...I’m at a loss. I’m so exhausted that I don’t know what to do anymore. If it was a protein sensitivity wouldn’t they have ran tests?! Do y’all think it could be a dairy sensitivity?
My daughter was like this. We did gentlease, alimentum, normal formula, nutramigen. Nothing helped she screamed all day long and wasn’t happy! We went to a GI to check silent reflex and nothing. We stuck with nutramigen which helped a ton. By 9 months her screaming was all cleared and she had a dairy and egg allergy which we found that out at 7 months. You baby could just have a severe case of colic like my daughter had. We also took her to the chiropractor.
That’s what I am honestly thinking at this point! We’ve changed and tried so many different formulas. I give him gripe water a a few times a day, along with gas drops. There’s days where he will just cry and cry and then there’s days where he is fine. It’s crazy!
@nunyabuzzz, awe hang in there!! Hopefully he will pass it by 3 months like most kids do. I’ve been where you’ve been I look back and wonder how the heck I even survived it because I literally wasn’t like functioning and I also had two other kids like you do so it’s added stress ontop of a screaming baby all day long.
@mommakaylax3, fingers crossed! 🤞 My other two were way easier then this new little guy. It’s definitely very stressful but I love them all and wouldn’t change it. Lol.
Haha yes similac allimentum is pretty much the same as nutramigen. Nutramigen has enflora LCG in it.
I suggest taking him to a chiro! Adjustments work wonders but do your own research ❤. Good luck momma!
Regular similac is milk based...soy is soy based. Have you tried the gentlease similac already?
Sadly all our stores close at 9:00 here so I’ll have to wait until morning to run and get soy formula!
Can you call the advice nurse about it? I have a 24 hour nurse, yes there is testing they can do for sensitivities but I think they usually just go by symptoms and have you try soy. I’m sorry he is so painful and upset though! Sometimes it helps if you have someone else try to soothe him for a bit and take a break, they can feel your tension too. Is he pooping at all?
Is your 24 hour nurse through your doctors office or your insurance? I don’t believe we have one...but I can definitely find out for future reference. He is pooping. He’ll poop once every 2 days but he’s always very gasy.
@nunyabuzzz, it was through both bc we have Kaiser and it’s a weird inclusive insurance cult (as I like to call it) but my son struggled while breastfed, I would put a heating pad on my lap, cover with baby blanket, then put baby tummy down on my knees and just sway gently back n forth. It allowed me to sit down and not exactly hold him but allowed him to pass gas. I’m unsure what the pooping standards are for formula, I know it’s safe for breastfed babies to go days between poops but idk if once every two days is healthy for formula fed babies, I thought they were expected to poop more.
Have you tried goat milk based formula? Much easier on the stomach and digestive tract.
