Has anyone gotten the Covid vaccine while nursing? Are there any side effects that should be considered? I had no idea the vaccine wasn’t available to kids under 16 so I’m curious to know how it works if you’re nursing your baby.

I got it while pregnant and currently BFing I get the second dose this month. I spoke to my doctor because I wasn't sure if trimesters mattered, you actually pass antibodies to baby. I'd do some research, CDC has info about it. I wouldn't take mine or any other persons opinions on it. If possible call your general or ob doc and ask them.

I do totally agree with this about talking to your trusted healthcare professional. I am incredibly picky about my.doctors and nurse practitioners and trust them when they give me advice.

Everything I am reading says it's a good idea and you can pass immunity on to children who are breastfeeding and that's really awesome. The vaccine won't be available for kids 8 and younger until early 2022.

I hadn't heard a date and was wondering. Good to know! I'm struggling on what to do with the kids and school next year. Put them in separate classes or same class. 😅

I’m nursing my 20 month old still and am getting my first shot next week. My best friend is fully vaccinated and nursing her 12 month old. I’m happy to keep nursing and to pass along some protection to my little guy, and everything I’ve read says it’s safe to do so.

I did. I didn’t have any side effects. I would definitely suggest talking to your doctor about it.
