Day two of no breastfeeding all day and so far he’s only had about 5-10 minutes of crying at nap time and bed time .. but I caved and breastfed him twice overnight so tonight I will be trying to just soothe him another way if he wakes up 😪 I’m ready to get back to my normal self/life ! Tomorrow is day 3 hope this goes good . Wish me luck

So are you trying to sleep train or wean him? Because you can still nurse him during the day but have him sleep trained. He’s still pretty young to sleep through the night but I would focus on one or the other at a time, not both at once because that must be so hard on him 😢

I don’t breastfeed him during the day anymore today is day 3 . He does well with no breastfeeding through the day. Overnight is his problem .. and Also I was told kids 13+ should be sleeping 11-12hrs a night with no overnight feedings and that most kids who want overnight feeding is for comfort which is definitely my son cuz he sucks to boobs for 2 minutes to fall back asleep but will not take a pacifier, bottle, etc so I don’t know what to do anymore beside give in... I didn’t have to deal with none of this with my daughter she was weaned off the boob in one day at 7months she forgot like it was never there ..

@flamingfiremom, who told you that? All kids are different so don’t feel pressured. My daughter dropped her night time nursing all on her own at 14 months. If I tried at 13 months I would’ve been wasting my time because she did it on her own. My son never nursed in middle of the night, he’s always slept through the night but when he turned 2 he started getting up some nights. Not for food, just for comfort or a drink of water or a diaper change. Kids wake up for all sorts of things, even once they’re weaned.

I weaned my son slowly around 14 months. It took a lot but I let him cry in the middle of the night bc I know he didn’t need it. He took a pacifier though so usually that and snuggling got him back to sleep. If you are weaning to an alternative milk product that he likes, you can give him that but it’s high in sugar so brushing teeth between bottles or cups is important.

Yup I caved and let him have the boob overnight I was up from 12:30-3am he would not go to sleep I tried giving him his bottle, rocking him, etc nothing worked

Yeah not giving him the boob overnight is soo tough bkz I hate hearing him cry and then he wakes up his sister and she starts crying ..
