Please tell me why a 6 year old girl is "babysitting"her 3 year old brother during a remote learning math lesson...you can hear both parents in the background working from home.
What pisses me off even more is the teacher is encouraging this and saying it's okay that he joins us. 🙄...this is why remote learning will not work long term.

Oh my gosh...that's crazy. I hope the teacher is just being nice and says something to the parents later. This is 99% why remote learning doesn't work, you can't set a 6 year old up and expect them to just follow it all and learn. You have to facilitate, teachers do a lot more than just stand in front of a class and you have to help guide. I see it all the time in my daughter's school. And then the next semester, those kids are being placed in small groups to help them with math and language arts. Smh. And to watch a 3 year old when she's trying to learn. I'd be fuming if I was that teacher.

She's a sweet old lady in her 70s so I doubt she will say something but yes...I get people have a lot to do but you can't leave it to up to a six year old. I wish parents would open their eyes. We had the choice to send our kids back or not...I feel like so many parents in our district took it as an option to make life easier for them. I feel so bad for these kids that never have their materials because their parents won't go get them or they're not organized and lose it around the house. Like common people step it up if they're staying home or just send them back.

On a side note. I'm constantly having to make kynzleigh come to my room because she wants to sit on Aubrey's lap during her virtual learning 🤦🏽♀️😂

Yeah. I feel sorry for that poor girl. I honestly don't feel like virtual is going to work...
But Aubrey also has a speech impediment. She's super sensitive about it... So to send her to school with a mask all day seems cruel....

Wow, yeah even before the teachers started enforcing that siblings and pets are not to be in the room during classes because it causes disruption, I was not about to let that happen, so people have no care for their child's education at all. That poor girl.

Yikes that’s crazy! I put my son in preschool and my daughter in the daycare at her school exactly for this reason. I work from home and can’t have them at home with me. My daughter can’t focus on school with her brother screaming in her face and grabbing the computer for himself. So my only choice is to spend half my paycheck on their schooling thanks to this remote nonsense. Kids are not getting a good education and parents are suffering too

Remote has helped dd concentrate and she loves it. I guess it is not for every situation. I am available during the day to help.
I can see how it may clash with different homes and situations. We like it so far and we prefer it over getting in contact with others if schools open up.

My daughter loves it to but has been suffering socially since she's an only child. They have hardly had any cases at her small elementary school do she's starting back next week. I'm going to miss her terribly and she's protesting right now but I know she'll love seeing her friends

It really irritated me more because she's 6 😫....like common if the parents have her doing in front of the camera then what else is she responsible for behind the scenes

This is incredibly irritating since the parents chose remote learning. Choosing that means making a commitment to supervising your child during lessons. I have called plenty of parents to let them know they need to supervise their child (student) or other children (non-students) who are a distraction. I told one parent that if she didn’t sit directly next to her kid during Zoom lessons then he wouldn’t be admitted to the lesson - the teacher would record it and share it after.

@massgirl, People don’t even give a shit. We had a family completely break a chromebook and they don’t care. I’ve had chromebooks returned COVERED in crumbs, sticky messes, pet hair, etc. Needless to say, none of those families will be issued devices again.

@massgirl, Same - I’d purchase like 10 whiteboards and drop them off at school. I’d feel so embarrassed!!

I used to babysit my younger brother and I was maybe 8 but that was a different time then, of course and not when I was schooling. Sucks for that family and situation. I hope they figure it out.

Aww I can’t help but have empathy for that child. It’s not her fault, and I wouldn’t want to call the student out in front of her peers for it.. I would however contact the parents later on. Remote learning has been really eye opening, and it’s so hard to see the environment some kiddos are living in with such careless and irresponsible parents. 😔

Yes. I feel so bad for her she's such a sweet kid. My frustration solely lies with the parents in this situation. I hate seeing kids struggle when they have the means to not.
