These basement remodels are killing me. Annnnnd I just scheduled a bid for another one! Grateful to have the work though!

*Pro tip: If you are planning to install a Tankless water heater, do your research. The normal BTU’s on those bad boys is 199,000/hr! In my state normal gas meters run on 4oz meter and that’s only 250 CFH(BTU) per hour. If your furnace is over 50,000 BTU, you are already pushing that meter. Then add a range (60,000 btu) and Dryer (22,000 btu) and maybe a fireplace (25,000 btu).
With all these gas appliances on the small meter, the appliances are starving for gas. The Meter needs an upgrade! 2LB meter with a regulator to keep the gas pressure low to the appliances.

I drew the gas schematic and the GC is acting like I made a mistake in my first estimate. It’s an ESTIMATE, not a bid or quote. I give estimates. So now he thinks I should eat $1000 in materials PLUS LABOR to get the gas line done the right way. I’m soooo annoyed. And now I’m about to walk off this job. My knowledge in this industry exceeds his in his industry. I’m sorry but drywall, mud and framing ain’t shit compared to what we do.

lol I seriously have to calculate the proper amounts of gas to go to each appliance. The size of the line and length of the runs all go into consideration. Then we have to follow International Residential Codes. That is just the gas line. With the Furnace I have to calculate the air flow. Same system, how long the run is, size of the run, size of the room, insulated/non insulated, number of windows, ceiling Heights, etc. sooooo much goes into these.
