I need some insight on a c-section versus a natural delivery. I’ve had two natural deliveries, the first one was a nightmare but the second was smooth. I am getting my tubes tied after I have this baby. I don’t want anymore. I talked to my obgyn and she said that if I had a natural delivery it wouldn’t be guaranteed that they would be able to do a tubal ligation during my stay. I asked about an elective c-section and she said I could schedule one and I’d be able to have the tubal ligation done, guaranteed since they’d already be in there....What would y’all do?! I really don’t want to have to wait but I’m also scared of a c-section. Can y’all give pros and cons? For those who have had c-sections, how were they? Recovery?

I’ve had 2 c-sections. The first was hard and recovery took a long time. I couldn’t even get out of bed for 2 days. You’ll need to stay on top of your pain meds and get help at home for the first 2 weeks. You’ll need help getting out of bed and taking care of your kids. You won’t be able to lift anything heavier than your newborn for several weeks. My second one was much easier because I already knew what to expect. I went home in less than 2 days. The main thing is having help at home.

I've had 4 c sections. Honestly they are not that bad. I love that they are planned and you know what you're going into. The day after when you get up moving and the catheter comes out is the worst by far. You feel like you've been hit by a truck. Keep up with your meds around the clock for 3ish weeks, even when you don't think you need them. Get up and move but also don't push yourself too much. By days 4-7 you're slowly feeling like yourself again.

I've never had a C-section but I'd DEF elect to have both procedures done at one time, if it was possible. Only one procedure means 1 stretch of time for recovery too!
