I absolutely love my mother-in-law: why would you not want to have a good relationship with your childrens’ significant others?? I get it’s not always easy, but to start out by saying “I already don’t like you”. Big yikes. Whoever dates my son one day: Love and respect him and if he does anything stupid or disrespectful, just let me know. We dont raise disrespectful boys in my family.

@jennatess, that is immature of them. I can only hope the children will avoid having to introduce their partner to them. It creates resentment.
That is what the mom will get. It is toxic. Especially if the child looks up to you and now has doubts about his or her choices as they age. Dam🤧

Absolutely agree with you !, Same here my boy's are raised to be respectful and also be respected. I don't like how some people put higher standards on their girl's like boy's do not grow up to be men and don't deserve the same. Plus this just being plain disrespectful to someone you just met I will never do either, I have an amazing relationship with my MIL because she knows the respect goes both ways in our marriage. She respects me and I do the same to her it's not that hard 🤷🏻♀️.

Same. I’ll never be like this. I pray my son finds happiness with someone. He deserves his own family and to live and enjoy his life. I hope I can be a part of that and have a relationship with his other half and I hope they have kids that I get to love and enjoy.

I only have a daughter (and another on the way) but I truly hope that when they are grown and find someone they love that his/her mother treats them with respect and kindness! And when they bring their boyfriend/girlfriend home I plan to make them feel comfortable and loved because I NEVER want to step in the way of my child happiness like that. As long as they are in a healthy relationship and they are happy then so am I 🥰

Agreed! I want to play a big role in my sons life for as long as possible and be a huge part in my future grandchildren’s lives, but you can’t to that by causing problems with the partners - especially when they’ve done nothing to deserve it.
My MIL is amazing and I’m closer with her than my own mother!
