We were supposed to go to my inlaws for christmas but then our church asked my husband if im available to run nursery for the christmas eve services and he told them yes. Then they asked if we would run kids church the sunday after christmas and he said yes. So now we are not going to the inlaws and my MIL is very upset at us for not telling our church no. My husband and i are ministry leaders and he could never say no if another ministry asked us for help. 🤦♀️ i just feel icky all over. I hate disappointing people and knowing someone is upset with me. I should add that they live 4 hours away so we would have to leave our house christmas morning and drive back home the morning after christmas and thats just an insane amount of time in the car with 3 kids ages 5, 4, and 14 months.

That is an insane amount of time in the car, especially for children at Christmas. I always dreaded having a lot of expectations on holiday visits, my husband's parents were divorced and so were mine, so we had 4 places to visit on holidays and it was awful in it's own way. I feel your discomfort.

I adore my mother in law and I understand her being sad about us not going down for Christmas but really it's just a holiday. We could go down any other time. We are volunteers at our church regularly and it's hard to say no when they need us. And to be honest I'm happy to stay home this year. My husband's family are hardcore anti face masks and my SIL has been exposed to covid and is supposed to quarentine but they think it's all a hoax so they refuse to quarentine or wear masks and continue going to public so that also makes me nervous to expose my kids to that. Idk I'm just venting and struggle with anxiety when people are upset with me lol

We were also there in september (which is 3 months ago but we usually only go down once a year anyway)
