Cooking thanksgiving dinner for the first time this year so hopefully everything comes out okay because ya girl burnt ramen noodles last night. 😂
Question though.... for those that do prepare your own dinners do you guys make your desserts homemade as well or buy them? I’m gonna make the banana pudding but I might buy the cake and pie.

Depends on the mood! My mom would make everyone their own special dessert. Last year my husband a pie since I didn’t want anything. This year I’m making peach cobbler since my husband is cooking dinner.

How many of you are there? Special dessert. My family too big for that I think we’d have a whole bakery if my mom made us all desserts there’s 6 of us.
Maya 🐝··
it was 5 of us. My dad wasn’t particular it was just us kids. Now with my immediate family only the adults like dessert. My kids don’t care. Lol

I make everything homemade...Including the rolls & all the desserts.

That’s great honestly I feel since we only eat this kind of food once a year everything should be homemade but I’m not the best baker so I don’t want to mess anything up. What kind of desserts do you make?
Lindsey··
yes, girl. That’s how I feel about it too!
I cook every year, even when we do see family (but it’ll just be us 4 this year). But I make pumpkin roll, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, watergate (this is a wonderful no bake pistachio dessert), & usually a caramel apple pie. My husband is a dessert FIEND! Lol 😂 So he’ll snack on those for awhile!

I have always done it homemade.

I’m cooking for the first time also. I’m making all the desserts myself but it’s only two pies. When we usually have it with his family they make some and buy some. To me it doesn’t really matter which you do. If you’re not big on baking there are some no bake recipes you can do.
AliciaNoelle··
I seen a no bake cheesecake online so I might try that! What’s on your menu this year since you’re doing it by yourself are you gonna go all out or no?
kesha hicks··
We’re doing a small turkey breast, a mini ham, mash potatoes, fried apples, Mac and cheese and some chicken wings. And I’m making cherry pie and sweet potato pie.

Homemade but I’ll buy if I’m not up for it. No extra stress is needed.

I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time too. Usually I help with sides or dessert, but we aren't doing your traditional Thanksgiving dinner so im not as nervous.
I'm just going to buy a chocolate cake from Aldi that is SOOOO good.
AliciaNoelle··
What are you making this year? Honestly I feel you on the non-traditional dinner because usually by Christmas I be tired of thanksgiving food. We usually do like Italian or Chinese food for Christmas to switch things up.
Hakuna··
this year since jts just us 3, we are making filet mignon, mashed potatoes, either green beans or asparagus, corn on the cob and im making homemade rolls.
Hakuna··
we never really do traditional Thanksgiving. Noone really likes turkey in our extended family. I do remember one year we did make turkey ham and all thr fixings. But we usually have a Mexican dish, like pozole or tamales or something like that

I have done both. But desserts can make big messes so sometimes its best to buy

My honest advice is to really look at your time and your cooking space. Don't bite off more than you can chew the first year. Timing things can be tricky. It's wonderful to do everything home made, but if you have a small kitchen or limited time, it's okay to buy some things. Being stressed and exhausted is the fastest way to ruin a holiday. Focus on your absolute favorite dishes and skip stuff no one cares about. Enjoy the day! <3 A lot of things can be made several days in advance if you have the free time.
Lindsey··
Yes. This!! I always make my desserts in advance!!
