My father in law recently passed away, this is going to be so tough on our family. Especially knowing that I have 4 weeks of school left. How can I tell my daughter that her grandpa isn’t coming home? MAY HE RIP

These are the HARDEST conversations to have with littles cause your not sure how much they actually understand. When my Dad died, I told my Son that grandpa had to go to heaven cause his job here was done. He's still with us everyday and when you miss him, you can still talk to him in your heart. My kiddo wasn't as old as yours when this happened but as he's gotten older, he asks questuons and I just try to give him as many answers as I can, without bein too much for a 5 year old. He has NO idea my father died of suicide, he's NOT ready for that conversation yet. It's TOUGH and I HOPE you can find your way Mama. BEST of luck and I'm so sorry for what you and your family are goin through.

Thank you so much for your words and advice. We were very lucky to have our daughter as the only grandchild on my husbands side of the family. He adored my daughter so much.

I hope you guys are able to find peace and a new normal. Try and answer her questions the best way you can and let her get through it how she needs to, there's NO time limit.

I’m SO sorry! My father died when my daughter was less than a year old so it wasn’t hard on me to have to “tell her”. But I worry alllll the time about my wonderful in laws or my mom passing. These little ones deserve to have their grandparents 😥
