So went to the dr and they said I’m a carrier for Spinal muscular atrophy, which can be fatal in infants. My husband has to go get tested as well. Just because I have it doesn’t mean the baby will but if his test is okay then it’s most likely the baby won’t get it. I’m nervous and scared but my dr said not to worry about it.

Is this something that’s just tested for in bloodwork? You didn’t know about it with your older boys? I don’t think I’ve heard of it.

Yes it’s tested in blood never had it done before insurance never covered it till now. My two middle boys were completely healthy.

My brother and sisters are both carriers. They have 4 kids between them, none of which were born with it. Don’t stress yourself out before you need to.

I had testing done in my first pregnancy and had a similar thing and the way the doctor described it was its pretty rare when 2 + find one another. 😆 I hope everything turns out good!
