AJ has a dentist appointment today and im praying he does well. He doesnt like drs of any kind and is just starting to get somewhat more comfortable around his pediatrician who hes seen since birth. He chipped his front tooth a little and i dont want it to get worse so he needs to have it looked at. Its a fight to brush his teeth correctly at home so idk how this is gunna go. They sounded super nice on the phone and its a pediatric dentist so im sure they deal with scared kids a lot. I hope they make him feel comfortable. Fingers crossed he lets them look in his mouth.

A lot of that first appointment is letting the kiddo touch the equipment, sit in the chair, check it out.

Thats what i was thinking they will do. I just really wanna get his front tooth looked at. Its a super small chip. Not enough for someone who doesnt see him everyday to notice. But i dont want it chipping more or turning into something worse.

Oh they totally know how to handle that! My daughter is hard to handle at the dentist and the pediatric dentist is so good with her. The good ones know all the tricks

@jenx 😂😂 thats cute! He ended up being really nice and did a good job keeping him calm and making him feel comfortable. Gave him like 20 stickers so they were best friends by the time we left. Hes has a cavity on his front tooth which i figured. They want to fill it as soon as possible so it doesnt get worse. Hes gunna have to be put under for it.

its mostly my fault he has it😔 I brush his teeth twice a day but he always has a cup of milk or juice in bed with him at night and im sure that's what caused it. We are starting water only at night now so hopefully that keeps him from getting anymore. Ive always struggled with not giving him something to drink at night cuz he cries and i cave and give it to him.

If its not large and no trauma, they won't do anything. Good to get it looked at so they can keep track of it as he grows. If he doesn't let them in, that's okay, covid probably did nothing good for stranger anxiety. I had mine watch YouTube videos of kids their age and that helped a ton! I also played dentist before like brushing and flossing and counting. Lots of prep before.

@catfish2220 good! I'm glad he did good! I remember I was a wreck the first time they went. We go again in early Nov. We had to put my oldest son under to get work done too. 😔

@scidg3 did he do okay with it? My daughter has to be put under too but she was a lot older and they did it at Children's hospital. With this he will be in the dentists office and him being so little still kinda scares me.

yes, he did great. He had stranger danger and I was really worried he would go back screaming and it would be traumatic for us both. We went back with him and he drank a cocktail by the time they took him back he was getting sleepy and very happy. They kept us informed during and when he was done they came and got me before he woke up. He was confused and it was like having a drunk baby even after we got home but he just wanted me to snuggle him.

Hes basically over the whole stranger danger stage unless its Drs. Hes okay with them up untill its time to go back into the exam rooms. They told me they would be giving him a shot that will make him go to sleep and then putting an IV in to do the anesthesia. They didnt do that with my daughter. They gave her the laughing gas stuff that knocked her out. (she called it unicorn air lol) but they didnt let us go back with her when they put her to sleep. They said for him he will get the shot we will wait with him to fall asleep and then we leave the room and they do the IV. My daughter was miserable when she woke up. And She was out of it for the rest of that night. Im just hoping he does well with it and it doesnt scare him too much. I dont want him being scared of drs for forever and hes starting to come out of that fear so im scared this will make him regress.
