Those of you who are married did you change your surname?
I'm a bit of a feminist and as a teacher I get called by my surname all day every day and I worked hard at my degrees to have that happen. My OHs surname wouldnt suit a double barrel either
Reading these comments it’s crazy how much things change over time! Usually it’s a woman who takes their partners surname but it’s soo nice to see people changing it up and doing what suits them! xx
I didnt think I would but I did. When it came down to it I wanted us (kids too) having same name. Although I still haven't gotten around to changing it on some things 😂
And I don’t really have an connection/emotional attachment to it
So for me even though I’m for keeping your surname as a woman
I wouldn’t mind mine changing 😊 I’ve always said I’d keep mine but with my current partner I will be changing mine to his at some point (not marriage but deedpoll)
Mine too, mine isnt my maiden name it was my stepdads name once my mom married him, but I've had it since I was 4 and I feel like because I've seen it on every certificate I've ever achieved its "mine"
I changed mine, but I think if I had a fancy profession where I had established my maiden name I would have kept it. That said it took maybe a week to switch over my name at the bank, Dr's, work ect.
I changed mine. I was Smith, now Bodell. It was legally changed on the day and I just had to change my bank account and at the doctors etc. Wasn’t difficult.
You don’t have to change your name if you don’t want to. When you give your notice they will ask you if you want to change your name. It’s entirely up to you x
