My anxiety is terrible right now, the school District just sent a survey for each kid about doing a and b weeks soon and if it’s something we consider or stay virtual and I don’t know what to do I feel like either option will be wrong.
@kimmyx4, I would chose hybrid if that’s an option. I’m not sure what A/B schedule is. But if A/B means they won’t be doing anything or just doing a packet, then I would definitely go virtual. Only cause I know my son won’t learn with a packet and prefers virtual.
We don’t do A B here. We’re all virtual but the district has applied for the reopening waiver so once kids go back to school they will continue the same schedule they are on now. There’s a morning session for 2.5 hours and the rest of the work is independent. Then there’s an afternoon session for 2.5 hours and the rest independent. All kids were placed on either AM or PM at the start of the school year. My daughter is on PM so she’ll attend for 2.5 hours 4 days a week. Mondays are all independent. I’m looking forward to it! Kindergarten is not meant to be online.
Ours had A days being M/TU and B days being TH/FR with cleaning/all virtual on Wednesday. It only lasted a couple weeks, they are going back to all virtual again. It’s just sucky all around for kids and parents. I don’t think you can go wrong with whatever you decide is best! Everyone is in the same crazy boat!
Really that’s what I’m thinking is going to happen here. I just don’t want to take the risk for them to be sick then I don’t want them to miss out on school but my anxiety won’t allow me to send them and be ok with it.
I don’t blame you our options is virtual they didn’t specify what that will consist of since the teacher wouldn’t be able to teach online like they do now. Or a week and b week they’ll do virtual mondays and tues thru fri either in school or online
My kids had the option to chose hybrid which is two days week starting in October or full remote learning. Which my oldest chose full and I picked for my 6 year old.
@kimmyx4, we chose remote learning for him a well, he seems to be doing better, not as nervous and actually likes it. We also chose it to be on safe side parents always sending their sick kids to school not taking any chances this year.
@boymomx3, right I feel the same my sister is one them parents I asked her for her opinion she said mine going back because I’m tired virtual but I actuality she has even been around them when they do virtual. She said her kids go everywhere now so they can go school
I just went back and read over it again it says virtual on off weeks doesn’t say packets for our schools I have 4 in 4 different grades. It’s stressing me out and I really don’t have anyone to help me decide. My sister who has 3 kids is deciding a and b because she doesn’t want to deal with them she lets them go everywhere and her and some her friends had covid she’s careless.so she’s no help
I would take into consideration your internet speed. Do you have enough laptops? Will the school provide them if you don't?
How well are the older kids at time management?
Aubrey's biggest issue is remembering what time she needs to be on for each subject. I have alarm set on my phone for her. She can read so she knows which alarm is which when it goes off.
@raisinglittlegamers, we are virtual right now and have been since sept 8th it’s been good so far I have really good internet and the school gave iPads to both little kids and laptops to the two older kids.
Here on the weeks off the just teach live. So the kids that are home are doing the exact same learning as the children in the classroom. Maybe ask about that
I asked my kindergarteners teacher if I choose virtual how will it work will she be still teaching online or what she said honestly I don’t know how I’ll teach virtual if I’ll have a class
I've seen the "work" they've sent home with kids who do the AB schedule and I definitely feel like my child is getting more education doing the virtual daily.
The kids who do the AB here get sent home with a packet they do on the days they aren't in school...
ETA I know every place is different but that's what ours does
Some who do the AB send their kid virtual on days off. So definitely figure out what they're doing on their "off days"
That’s what I was wondering what they’ll do on the off weeks so on the off weeks they don’t do virtual smh 🤦♀️. So if they stay virtual will the teacher still be in love each day? And how did you make your decision
@kimmyx4
Well I made mine virtual because Aubrey is in gifted and talented. She needs to be challenged especially in math. She has a speech impediment though. I couldn't imagine sending her to school with a mask ALL day with her being very sensitive over her speech.
When I saw they were doing packets during their "off days" it made me alot more confident in my decision
