So frustrated. I am seeing my obgyn which has a fertility specialist. I saw them and they did blood work on day three. I asked what my thyroid levels were and the nurse tried to just say everything was fine. But I have been having hypothyroid symptoms for about 6 weeks now. 8 weeks ago the pharmacy had to change manufacture companies because there was supposedly a shortage. I get told its 3.5. This is high for me and high for those trying to conceive (I have done a crap ton of research on the issue). I tell this to the nurse and she says well I dont know what you are talking about it is normal per the lab and if you really want the levels checked again and meds readjusted you should see your primary care. So I call primary care and they dont want to do anything. No one wants to listen that i feel like crap at anything above a 2.5 and that i cant get pregnant above a 2.14 (every time i miscarried the levels were above a 3. I only conceived my daughter when the level was a 2.10). And for 6 weeks I have been drained of all energy, no naps help, wake up at 6a and ready for bed by 9a. My hair is shedding horrendously again. My periods have gone back to irregular when I was on a 35 day cycle for about a year. It was 3 months, then 45 days, then 56.
I just want to give up and cry but I have no energy left to even cry at this point.
@no062014, it’s so interesting to me because some people can have such strong symtoms with only a slight increase and some people can have numbers off the charts and not even know
@kellynicole yep. My other momma her levels are a 7 and she has no symptoms. Being treated for it for 5 years though I am pretty sure I know when my levels are off. And just tired of doctors telling me I dont know my own body
@no062014, push push push! My dr didn’t want to order a blood test because my labs were normal in March. I pushed and she just shrugged her shoulders. And I was right. I knew something was off for months but just started having symptoms the past month. You know your body more than the drs!
I still have no energy but not nearly as bad as it was a few weeks ago...I hope you can get in with your PCP Soon!
I can get pregnant with them higher. But I cant stay pregnant. But my levels have caused the anovulation this year. And each office has their own reference range but dont take into account how the patient feels and tries to blame it on something else every time
@lifewithlynnieandwill88 tsh. They won't test anything else. It's usually my t4 I think it was that's off. And I was tested for inflammation and I cant remember all the information but the test they pulled at the inflammatory docs showed elevated levels pointing to hashimoto's
@no062014 my TSH has been the thing off too. T4 & T3 is usually in a normal range. They really need to do a full thyroid panel.
@lifewithlynnieandwill88 yep and it's something I ask for every time and get fought on every time
Ugh that's frustrating. My TSH was 8 something just in June, I got pregnant with them that high and have been on a higher dose for a few weeks now (level was 4.5)and they are finally down to 2.08. my OB considers 0.36-3.74 as standard range.
This makes me very sad for you and for my DD. I can always tell when her number are off even by the slightest amount and her endo always tells me that she shouldn't have any negative affects when the numbers are just barely off (even though she always adjusts her meds) and I worry that when she is older and no longer has me to advocate for her(as in is an adults and can't have me fighting all her battles) any longer that she will go through this like you. I'm so sorry!!! I hope you can really talk to your team and ask for the adjustment to your medication and get real attentive care. Hope you feel better fast!!!
@no062014 She does love salads which everyone finds off at 4, but I wonder if she feels a difference like you? Thank you so much for helping me with ideas. We don't eat pasta often, but sometimes and we do eat a lot of rice. Fish, shrimp, lots of chicken!
@xryztalroze for me itll be a difference in my attitude and energy. My husband can tell when I have had a bad day with my diet. But if she is active and not seeming sluggish then her diet is good. If she is seeming like she needs a nap or is cranky more so then normal check into what she ate.
Ugh I’m so sorry. My TSH is at 21 last I checked 9/5. It’s crazy how crappy a low functioning thyroid can make you feel! You should ask for an antibody test.
